is 225/45/18 or 235/40/18 good, like will it fit my car. Its lowered about 1.5" and i might consider lowering it more. What is the minimum offset i can use? I don't want to rub. I think 225/45/18 would be better as far as fitment

Hey, at last a good question! You already know what size tires you want before you have purchased wheels.

Some may argue with this:
Max offset for 235/40/18 is 41 mm
Max offset for 225/40/18 is 50 mm

38-40mm should be fine for either application.

And by the way, look for somewhere around 8" width on your wheels if you want to maximize performance.

would 235's be to wide though? i want to be able to turn the wheel all the way in both directions without rubbing and also be able to drive and steer without it rubbing or hitting anything

I run 245/40/17 and/or 245/45/16 in the summer and have no problems turning the wheels. Of course, I run performance-oriented diameters. YMMV.

245's, damn that's gotta be wide

so its safe to say 235's should be fine with a car that's lowered?
