Is there anyone out there that has 18x7.5 with a 48+ offset rims on thier car now? They just look like they will rub the upper control arm. Someone please let me know what I should do.

Hey, I've been reading every tech article I can find and havn't been able to find anybody who knows if 18x8.5 rims with either a 45 or 35 mm offset, and 245/40ZR18 SP5000's will fit on a 98 eclipse gsx. thanx for the help guys.

They will fit with 35mm offset although 40 would be better.

Whoa. Just reread this. Make it 35 and you're in, but you will have little hope of getting them to tuck under your fenders.

I'd have to find the sheet my wheel specs are on...
But i have 18x9's and they fit fine on my stock suspension...
The rubbers sits about 3/4 of an inch from the control arm, but it isn't a problem :thumb:

I'm going to flip-flop one more time. Your question on 245/40/18's was timely. I had a set in my garage that I put on this morning. All previous data suggested to me that I would rub on the rear control arm and I would need an extra two or three milimeters for adequate clearance. Guess what?

245/40/18 Falken Azenis ST115 fits with 4mm clearance without modification on 18 wheels with 40 mm offset. You can still go with 35 mm offset, but at least with 40 you have a chance at keeping them inside the fenders.

As I've said before, when you're cutting it close, you have to take the tire's shape into account. It does not surprise me that much that a 245/40/18 ST115 fits on a +40mm wheel, because these tires are relatively thin (at the tread) for their sidewall rating. In contrast, a 245/45/17 Azenis is the same diameter as your new tires, and has the same width rating, but has no chance of not rubbing on a +40mm wheel, since the Azenis is one of the widest tires for it's sidewall rating that you can get. The MX, by the way, is somewhere between these two Falkens in terms of tread width for a 245.

ps. I'm disappointed in your choice of tires and wheels. There are only two "excuses" for 18" wheels: huge brakes or you're running 285/30/18s on a stiffly-sprung car....

Thanks for the help guys. The only reason I have 35 and 45mm offsets is because that is the only two offsets the rims are available in. I dont know if you can get spacers or something to make it 40mm if you guys do let me know. The reason I'm looking at 18's is because most 17's ive seen on eclipses look to small with stock suspension. I plan on getting tein flex's with the tein edfc in the future, but thats in the future. The approx lowering for the tein's are -1.81" in the front with height adjustment from -.75 to -2.83 and -1.54" in the back with adjustments from -.63 to -2.44 (info taken straight from teins website specifically for the 2G eclipse) With the approx lowering will these rims and tires still fit? or will i have to go with 17x7's with 40 or 48 offset (the only 17" size available)? And does anybody know if the edfc will fit on the eclipse? Tein says there isnt enough room up front for the motors to fit, but has anybody done some custom work or been able to fit them? Thanks for the help.

You will definately be safe with the 35 though harder to tuck. You could get 45 and use 5mm spacers to make it 40. Yes they will fit with Tein Flex and rolled fender flanges. Don't know about the EDFC but other 2gs use it.

Just prepare yourself for the shame and embarassement of puny brakes. You know, the stares, the sideways glances, people trying to pretend they are looking the other way and snickering all the while...

I'm working on an appearance mod that will add 2 inches

to your calipers.
