wheel hop?

I did a bit of a mini launch (2k RPMs, brake boosted, mind you) on Sunday night at a stoplight. What immediately follwed after was a bit of bouncing around and tires screeching. Is this wheel hop? Some people describe it as actual hopping with wipers coming on. My wipers didn't come on but I did hear like tire screech, bounce, screech again, and bounce and repeat. It might have been the roads itself but I'm not sure. Any videos on actual wheel hop?

That sounds like wheel hop to me. Stiffer engine mounts and better suspension will help. If you already have suspension....get some engine mount inserts.

Yes it sounds like your getting wheel hope. It actually puts alot of stress on the drivetrain. I'v seen quite a few differentials blown up from wheel hop.

Yup, sounds like wheel hop.

I don't know how easily it would be to capture on video. It's more of something that you 'feel' instead of 'see'.

My buddy had a FWD 1G and it would hop so bad at the track, his wipers would come on every time.

Yep, good idea to get the other mounts in asap. I used to have it bad enough where, besides kicking on the wipers, my coin tray would flip open and change could bounce out, haha

Poly's reduced wheel hop for me but these bad boys made it non-existent.

I've seen that thread. As impressive as it is, the vibrations, plus the unaffordable downtime will keep me from doing that mod.

I cured my wheel hop with a front set of drag radials. Then again I had to heat them up and this is only to be used at a drag strip. Otherwise go with the motor mounts and/or a Quaife or Kaaz LSD.

In other words, there's no cure for wheelhop that doesn't involve down time. Sorry Shouldn't have bought a DSM.

I think I can live with it for now. I rarely launch her and I'm far from track ready. For now though, I work full time on the weekdays but I work on her on the weekends.

Get the solid mounts for the front and rear mounts. I don't get wheel hop on my fwd now because of them. Just tried them out for the first time yesterday. You can get the mounts done in a day no problem.
