Hi new here on the forum and i was wondering which is the best fmic kit for the 2g's? i am mostly interested on the V.R.S.F. one becuase it has the shortest route and the less couplers the better. i someone has detailed pic's of the install and the final look would be great. :D
Thanks
Bryan

Really there is no best one. When you look at a FMIC kit, look at the pressure drop. The smaller the drop, the better or more efficient it is.

If I could recommend one it would be the Punishment Racing FMIC Kit. I believe its short route and an easy install.

Fill out your profile with your mods.

I will list later on my profile.. my curent mods are:

Tubular Ex. Manifold And 38MM Wastegate
t3/t4 .63a/r & .57a/r Compressor
Custom F.M.I.C.
PTE 880cc
Walbro 255
Maf Translator & Gm Maf
Safc 2
3" CAT-LESS catback exhaust
I Dyno'ed at a local shop here in p.r. and i netted me 331whp and 332tq @ 18psi And that was practically untuned because the afr was @ 10.0 but i got it off the dyno because the place was a little crowded :sneaky:

Thanks for you suggestions i see you guys sugest the punisment racing kit but it really doesn't convince me because the fmic that i have right now has a shorter route with less couplers which mean less boost leaks.. and that won't be much of and upgrade..

A lot of people will tell you a lot of different things. The punishment racing is a good kit and pretty easy install. Currently right now on my 1g I am running a buschur racing front mount and have no complaints. As someone said before there really isn't a best, it all depends on what your goals are and your budget.

Well My Goal Is Like 400 to 415whp that just about it no more. the car with the current hp on 1st and seconds wheel spins like crazy so i don't plan on much horsepower. i'll guess i'll keep my current F.M.I.C. here's the deal: i am 16 this was my brothers car he got it when he was 16 now he's 21, i watched and participated on all the modifications done to the car. My bro just got and evo ix so he sold me the car at a really cheap price. i see some of the users mentions different brand of Intercoolers But Some of those kits cost $700+ and i don't have a job and i am still in high school and the car needs it's maintenance too, that's because i was interested on the vr speed one becuase it was cheap and short and thanks for all your help and suggestions I Plan on getting a part-time job and installing some cams (kelford's were my choice) spring retainers, brand new tensioners, head gasktet, studs, and dsm link and dyno it again.
thanks for your help i appreciate it

If that is your goal, I would definitely go with the VRSF one then. It is a lot more affordable and it can reach the 400hp mark.

What are the measurements on the core you have now? Is it not cooling enough? Also, is the piping short route?

I am sorry if this is a noob question. But since I am turboing my 420a I need to know this. How do you know if your intercooler is not cooling enough?

Cooler air is denser and better for combustion. Ideally, you want to draw in the coolest air possible. A turbo will increase the temperature of the air during compression. The IC is there to try to bring the air temp back down. The better the IC the better the cooling effect will be along with the least amount of pressure drop.

Thanks for the info. However.... ok let me put it this way. If I was using a SMIC instead of a FMIC. How will I know when it is time to upgrade? Is there anyway to tell if the air is not being cooled enough? I hope I am asking the question right. And thanks.

wwarlock i think you may get told about stealing other peoples threads, you should realy start your own :nono:

If your intake temps go up significantly and you start knocking/pulling timing after a few runs even though ambient temp/your driving conditions haven't changed if your IC isn't doing its job.

There is no "best" FMIC setup for your application, most people will recommend one brand or another. From what i've read the PR kit is a great kit for the money; that and you'll be supporting a vendor! So its a Win-Win. :)
