Resolved Whats the best exhaust system for a 2g GST?

My favorite is the Thermal R&D 3" catback with a Borla Race muffler welded into the midpipe. Full polished stainless, very big muffler for good sound control. About as quiet as my Greddy SP exhaust, which was already one of the quiter exhausts for a 2g GSX. I don't know what mufflers Thermal uses, but the sound quality and sound control is extremely refined, sounds like a very well tuned V8 during idle. This is also without a catalytic converter, probably sound stock if I put a 3" cat in place. WOT is another story, any 3" catback with no cat will roar @ WOT full boost with the windows down. Although it doesn't seem loud at WOT with the windows up for some reason, who knows, I love it though.

I'd buy the muffler from Thermal and build my own cheaper. But price aside, you couldn't buy a better built, performing, looking, sounding exhaust system.

Performance increase over my Greddy SP 60mm exhaust was pretty substantial. The engine just explodes now when the rpms hits 4500, car just loves high rpms on the expressway. Here's a linky: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164893

RoadRace sells Espelir now instead of Apexi N1, they said it was better quality. I've heard it's too loud though.

Hmm, yeah. I just read that. They still sell both, and they are not saying it is better build quality wise, just that it will outflow it because it is bigger all the way through. Is it completely stainless, like an Apex'i GT-spec would be? If so, then that is a wonderful price (and better quality). My N-1 is kinda beat up, and I was thinking of replacing it with the same thing or moving up to the GT-spec. But this one has got me wondering. I always thought the N-1 wasn't a true 3", but was bigger on one end then the other for GS-T's. I wonder how loud the Espelir really is though?

Yea I have a 95 TSI and I do not know which exhaust to get. I didnt plan on ordering a full cat-back piping kit. I planned on buying a solid downpipe and then taking the car to a muffler shop and having them put on their own stainless steel piping and then a muffler. THe only thing is i dunno what size piping to get. I have heard taht for a TSI FWD that the biggest downpipe you can have is a 2.5" and then you can get a 3" piping to the muffler. What you guys think?
