We have a 92 Eclipse gsx that blew a headgasket. It sat for a month or so and after we got the engine tore down it's all rusted.
So my question is what should i do? Should i get a used engine for it, or if i do the labor myself, can i buy a rotating assembly, have the block machined, or sleeved, which will be cheaper? I'm VERY new to building an engine, and only know about domestic engines. But this car will be scrapped if i dont fix it myself, so i would like some advice.
P.s. Cool site and thanks in advance!!

Ya its just the head that has been taken off. Im not sure how badly rusted it is. Its at a friends shop and they are doing the work cheap for us. But depending on how bad it is, my dad wont pay to fix it. He wants me to do the work and just buy the parts that are needed. What do u suggest?

Assuming the worst then, I'd like to rebuild the whole thing for fun anyways. Mabey even a stroker. This is just gonna be a project for me to learn on. Do you know of any how-to manuals that are available with instuctions on building one of these engines? like a chiltons?
