im upgrading my talon to an external wastegate, im changing the headers and welding my evo 3 16g's internal gate closed.

whats a good cheap wastegate, i spent most of my cash on the mani, are ebay ones any good? or will they work for the time being?

now on the ebay ones, they say the spring does a certin psi, how much can i run on this turbo, and bored 4g63, with all new internals?

First of all your car doesnt have headers. It has 1 exhaust manifold. And focus on maintanance before you mod anything on the car.

You can run 12lbs until you have something to tune with.

And please search before you post. Most people on here would shake their heads at your comments.

This is what you'll need to turn up the boost quite a bit:

ECMLink V3 Lite.
walbro 255 fuel pump.
adjustable fuel pressure regualtor.
750cc injectors.
front mount intercooler.
manual boost controller.

That should start you off

well i got the fmic and the boost control, so theres a start, what would be some cheap decent injectors?

sorry about the post.

I would go with 1000cc injectors.

A wastegate with a single port can normally run 10-15psi over their rated spring pressure. With dual ports that number can go up at least another 10-15psi, if not more.

Is there something wrong with the internal gate for you to be needing an external? It's hardly an upgrade since you will need to be running 10psi to keep yourself out of 100% IDC. Put your money into maintenance and supporting mods before trying to upgrade or turn up the boost.

If you are looking for the cheapest you can get the. You are on the wrong platform. I would recommend FIC injectors however as they are IMO one of the top brands for our vehicle currently.

IDC? well i already bought the mani so i might aswell do it? what would be some other upgrades to make?

Follow this guide. It's here for a reason Tech Guide: 2G 4G63t Upgrades - DSMtuners

IDC = Injector duty cycle. You don't really want to be over 80% and at 100% your injectors are no longer pulsing as they normally do but rather they are all just fully open spraying fuel constantl once the airflow threshold is reached.

More airflow means higher IDC. Swapping to a 16g on a stock fuel system on the stock fuel map on a 2g is going to be close to 90% IDC at wastegate pressure of 10ish PSI.

we i guess ill get a cheap ebay one for now and run 12 psi, then tune the ecu, new pump, new injectors, new rail, new fpr. thanks for the help guys

What is wrong with your internal gate for you to "need" an external?

The stock rail is good for around 800hp.

Fix your spelling, punctuation and grammar before posting again please.

Get something to tune with before you start monkeying with running more boost and more advanced parts than you're ready to deal with. If we have to explain to you how Injector Duty Cycle works to keep your engine from blowing up, you have no business turning your boost up yet.

Speaking of your future modifications, don't go cheap on them. Fix your car the right way the first time. Stay away from Ebay. Buy from reputable DSM vendors. Many of them have prices that aren't unreasonably more than ebay parts and they can help you find better combinations of parts than you can think of on your own.

nothing? i just thought it would be a good idea honestly, umm ill have to see if i can return it i guess, i never bolted the thing on.

A turbo is spooled by exhaust gasses. These gasses flow out of the head, through the manifold, down through the turbines in the turbo, and out of the exhaust. Exhaust gasses flow into the turbines, thus spooling your turbo. Controlling the amount of spool that a turbo experiences can only be affected by one thing, and that is wastegate control.

Your wastegate allows exhaust gasses to be diverted away from the turbine in your turbo. This puts a hault on the what would be exponential boost. These gasses can be diverted in 2 ways. A reicirculating wastegate dump, which allows the gas to bypass the turbo and recirculate back into the exhaust without spooling the turbo. Or, a vented wastegate (o2 dump) which just opens up your wastegate into the atmosphere. Either of which that can have an external or internal wastegate.

ebay wg's CAN and DO work, however ive seen a few tial mimics that have failed over times (IE: leaking under moderate boost. 15psi area). personally ive only ever used tial
