what wrong with my 91 gsx.

i have a 91 gsx and my trans is stuck in the middle drive gear but will go in park reverse, and neutral. any ideas what could be wrong.
will a 93 no turbo work in a gsx.
 
It all depends on the spline count on the 91 weather or not the 93 tranny will line up input shaft and output shaft. The 93 has 23 splines, and early 91s have 21 splines.
