Does anyone know what type of metal the top of the fuel pump housing is on a 2g? My feed line is leaking so I was going to cut it and weld in a AN fitting in its place. I was going to put a 90 -6an fitting weld it to the housing so the fuel pump sits in the other side. Has anyone done this and do you know what size the I need on the side that fuel pump sits in? Is it 3/8's???? Anything will help guys this is one of the last things I need to finish up the 6 bolt swap.

Thanks guys
Robert

It's mostly pot metal, which means various metals mixed together.

Get a regular steel weld bung, and use standard 309L wire to weld. Should work just fine. Make sure to keep the heat low, as the metal is thin and heats up quickly.

I believe its just thin aluminum but I could be wrong. And yes, people have done that before.

Alright cool im going to bring it with me when I come over tomorrow/ or if you meet me somewhere in charlotte on sat witch ever so you can take a look at it and see what you think. Thanks David :D

Unless you will have the fitting TIG'd to the housing, I advise against welding. A friend had a fitting MIG'd onto his housing and even after a couple tried the thing still had a pinhole leak. I had my fittings brazed into the housing just like the factory ones are, and that is how I ended up fixing my the leaks in the other housing.

In the attached picture you can see how the fitting looks compared to the factory ones. My car has been like this for quite some time and it has worked flawlessly. Additionally I recommend this method because anyone can do it with a small torch and some solder.
