Sadly I am piloting the struggle bus trying to find this answer. We are about to pickup a '98 GS with the 420a engine, fwd and a 5 spd manual. I cannot for the life of me find the model of this transmission.

The car will be a endurance road race car. So we just need to do our research on the trans and what all we will need to go through on it.

Thanks,
Jeremy

F5MC1 / NVT350 / A578 are all model names referring to the 420a 5-speed manual transmission. It shares a number of internal components as certain dodge neons, with differences being final drive, gear ratio, and clutch release fork styles.

A neon trans is not exactly 100% drop in, but it is doable. Otherwise, any 5-speed from a 95-99 non-turbo 420a Eclipse RS / GS will be a direct fit as they are all F5MC1.

Thank you! Apparently I was way off still.

So what is the 2gnt I keep seeing? Is that another engine designation?
