what to set safc at for base tune

im tuning a kids 92 awd laser that has an evo 3 16g 550's 3 inch turbo back a 255hp and other little odds and ends like a boost controller. whats the safest setting to put the safc at before i can get a wide band on it. the kid doesnt know much about the cars and i sold my pocket logger when i got rid of my 92. i thought around -15 across the board would be good to start at. any suggestions?

That really depends on if the car is manual or automatic. The 1g manuals had 450cc injectors and the automatics had 390cc injectors. If it is a manual, -15% would be a fine place to start, but you really, really should have a logger before installation of the injectors.

some local goonball shop did the install and i told my friend to have the kid get a logger but who knows. this kid also thought his 92 faded laser was worth 8grand so i dont even ask questions. theyll pay me to set a base tune on it and im leaving it at that

If it's a manual, the "normal" starting point for a base tune is -18% across the board. But I can't recommend doing that when you have no way to know what the car is doing. I would run with something conservative....such as -12 or -13%. After setting the low throttle map, tell him to let you know if he gets a CEL. It is possible that the -13% will put the FT's out of the ECU's correction range. Normally that won't happen at that correction value, but it all depends on his O2 sensor.
