I have read several posts and articles discussing filling carrier bearings and was wonering which types of filler you guys have tried with or without success.

Thanks!

I tried G&E white caulk it didn't work, still had the vibrations. But I probably did not level the bearing right. So I just rebuilt the drive shaft with new carrier bearings, lobro boot and U-joints.

I would like to replace them all together, but I don't want to spend the cash right now. I picked up some dynaflex 230 because that is the closest thing they had. It is supposed to be very flexible, so hopefully I won't have the same vibration issues people have reported.

Take a bunch of pics if you can, I'd love to see how it's done and the results.

I took a few. Word of warning to anyone using this stuff... it's thin and will come out of the other side before you know it. My girlfriend is going to murder me... LOL

Hate to tell you but that's not going to hold up. That is latex based and will fall out quickly if you ever get it to set up completely. You should have used osi quad or pl eurathane based caulking.

Can this be done just as easily on a 2G? I just rebuilt my driveshaft completely less than 200 miles ago and I still have this intermittent thump....:notgood::(:banghead:

Mcmaster has 2 part liquid pourable urethane. 80 durometer is hard like a prothane motor mount. A small can is enough for both bearings. Just make sure to cover the hole on the other side so it doesn 't run out.

I used a calk-gun of black rtv on the carriers for my Stealth, and it stiffened them right up. Been rolling with it now for two years. Only downside was after they were solid I got some vibration from the drive-shaft, though this is common when you do this on the 3/S platform. I still get some vibration now, though it seems to have diminished as I've put more miles on it.

Eventually I want to do it to the Talon, though I think just doing OEM replacement is a better, albeit, more costly option. I plan to replace the carriers in the Stealth with OEM units when the car goes back into winter storage and I have the money burning a hole in my pocket. In any case, the total cost was less than $15, and it'll do until I get around to properly replacing them.

Bah. It was looking like I needed to replace the carrier bearings anyway. These were running with hardly any thump or vibration to begin with, so I'll probably install this drive shaft this week and see how it goes. I was planning on replacing the carrier bearings shortly anyway. Worst case is that I get some latex crap on the bottom of my car... :/
