What tires should I get [Merged 3-9] which tires

The problem with the wheels is they are a little heavy. If anyone knows a similar looking wheel that weighs less please let me know.

The Konig Tantrums look pretty similar. 7 spoke instead of 9 spoke, and without the little bolts all around.

I remember considering the 17" version of the Tantrum for a while because they came in 17X8 and were around 17-18lbs. Not sure about the 18s though or how they compare with the CDR9s. One plus plus for the Tantrum is you get a little more width (7.5 versus 7). But it's at a 45 mm offset, which may be a little close the rear uprights. Discount tire claims it fits though.

I've got the Toyo Proxes and I love them, driven 70k+ miles on them and they show little wear, best tires I've ever owned.

70k on tires?

Yeah, I used to have a 100 mile commute and I put a ton on those tires. I'm surprised too, I've never had tires last this long, let alone in such good shape. I bought the car with about 30k on it and immediately bought new tires. I just hit 100k last week.

Edit, although I should mention that I blew a tire last week too, so one of them is actually brand new, but the others aren't too far off.

Autocrossing monthly and semi-daily driving on Falken Azenis and Yokohama A052s, I got ~15K out of each of those brands of tires. I can't believe that fastplant got 70K on those Toyos. They're relatively sticky tires, right?

Haha, I think I kept the receipt from them, it'll show the miles and I'll take a pic of my odometer too and the tires and put it all up. I'm not lying :(

When I said I couldn't believe it, I didn't really think you were lying. It just seems amazing. You don't have to post all that stuff for my benefit. Maybe I should be running Toyos.

Ok, i am in the market for some newer tires. I 'm not sure what ones to get or what size. I heard The Potenza S0-3 and 2's are good. whats the diffrence?? I want handling and traction, but i don't really want some Drag Radials. I gotta deal with snow too.

What size should i get? the stock 205's or some 215's? Also should i get a smaller wall if i get the 215's??

I'm not a tire expert, I just know what I research. I've got BFG G-force KDWS. I love them. Good wear, low road noise awsome traction dry, wet, and breaking. If you want more performance but shorter tire life they make the KDW then their supper tires are the KD.

Just a suggestion since I've enjoyed them so much.

I have bridgstone s02's and they are decent for everyday driving but when I was nearly stock they werent enough. In the rain the car feels unstable and feels like its going to understeer, in dry weather pushing it they are somewhat OK but Id preffer kumho over these. By the way I am running bridgstone potenza pole setter s-o2 size p205 55 16. I will be upgrading as soon as I get the money...my advice is to get wider or get another brand. just my .02 cents

i dunno...i need an all season tire b/c it snows here quiet a bit in the summer. If i had summer tires in the winter and snow what would happen?? the SO-3 and 2's are Summer tires.

I want something that will hook good at the track and on the street, i also want something that handles good on the street. What about some Yokohama tires? what model? Nitto? kumho? what model of these??

I don't know much about tires.

The bridgstone pole setters dont handle at all in the snow...we had a inch of slush and I slid all around...so I stayed home.

the pole position so-3's are great tires, stay away from most kumho tires, the supra ecsta 712's suck for traction. I have them rightnow and will not be going back to them, they are pretty good for handling but even that is debatable. The kumho mx's are really great tires, but they are a little bit more money. The bridgestone potenza RE730's(second generation) are decent tires and don't cost a grip load of money. I have heard good stuff about the new nitto neo gens, however you want to stay away from the 450's and the regular 555's. Yoko's are good tires all aroudn but they can get costly and like to wear out fast so its a trade off. For my next set of tires I will be goind with BFG G-force tires havne't decided on what seires but probably the kd's.

But you are going to have to sacrafice performance if you want to be able to drive in the snow and rain, the RE730 that I had did very very well in the rain and did a pretty good job on the street also, so for an all around tire that is my vote.

Id go with the Eagle F1s. They are simply the best summer tires out there. I think they come stock on C5s or even Zo6s. Being im FWD, grip is all the more important. Ive tried perrali p zeros, and kumho 712s both had nothing on the eagle F1s. Wear is good too. Nvr tried in the snow, and nvr plan to but they are awsome in the rain. Might cost a bit more close to 200 sometimes per tire, but they are very much worth it! :thumb:

I have always had great experiences with kumho ecsta 712s...they are one of the best rain tires out there and are great for handling(not the best but still damn good especially for the price). As far as drag(which I didnt know, but should have) get something like nitto 555s or something. Im not too good in the drag tire market but kumhos , and azenas are pretty good(kumhos for wet and azenas for dry)

I've got the Yokohama avs es100's. Only had them for about a month but so far they are great.

I've got a set of wanli s-1099's last fall and they were awesome wet and dry. The only problem was the first time it snowed I found myself spinning down a hill so I had do buy snow tires (dunlop graspics)

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Falken. I use Azenis 225/45/17, and LOVE them.

NOT GOOD AT ALL FOR SNOW. You can drive in rain with them, just be VERY careful.

You pretty much just explained why no one has mentioned them for all season or even somewhat all season tires.

I live in canada , If you ask me about snow well I would go with toyo proxes z rated tires , wich is what I have for winter rims , They are great 4 season tires I have 205-55r16 , I believe that's the stock size

I mentioned them before...just didng know how to spell it. Besides if you are shopping for a performance tire your not going to get snow traction, you dont buy a performance tire for snow traction...kinda like buying a ski jacket for a trip to the jungle you know what I mean.

There are so many tires out there that you can choose the level of performance you are willing to give up in order to maintain a good all season tire. There's always trade offs.
