what the heck is this?!!!

i just finished installing a ACT 2100 on my car, and i was bleeding my slave cylinder, and when i went to put more fluid in the resevoir... there was a little black rubber cap thing FLOATING around in it?! also to know, i CANNOT put my car in ANY gear, however if i start my car in 1st with my clutch to the floor, its NOT engaging at the floor, it lets out about 1" or so from the ground, just like my old clutch, and my rod is adjusted as far as possible...

is my master cylinder finished?

Are you bleeding the clutch correctly? (fluid is being absorbed through the bleeder valve)

yeah i am! me and my dad have done it a 1000 times, and he used to build race cars... but we can't seem to figure it out! he's the kinda guy that can build any kind of engine, we just rebuilt my motor and it runs great, but he isn't quite that knowledgable in problem solving imports (he's an old school chev kinda guy)

also, i was able to get it into reverse... so he said, just keep pumping it for a long time and maybe it'll be ok, after a few minutes of pumping, it actually got WORSE and wouldn't even go into reverse, wouldn't even grind!! i could go into first but it just grinds, every other gear is like its blocked by a wall... also, my shifter seems to have alot of side to side play when its in any gear, almost like if its 1st, if i move it all the way to the right, it "appears" to the untrained eye i am in actually in 3rd, but its clearly 1st.... any thoughts?

I had a problem like this before. You might have forgotton to put the shifter cable bracket back on. The one that you bolt to the top of the transmission. That was what happened to me.

Make sure that the bolts in purple are on and tight.
