i have a friend thats a cop for the corpus chirist police dept. and i had him clock me with his gun. he went a couple miles in front of me on the express way and waited for me...... only one problem there was a little traffic that slowed me down a little but the spedo was dead on at 130mph. i wanted to make another pass to at least try to get to 140mph before calling it quits, but he didn't want to do it, he said it was to risky.
 
I hit 120 without hesitation rock stock.........But I get a bit of a vibration around 105......Does anyone know what it could be? It's not bad, but it makes ya wonder.
 
I agree with racer-x, it must be the balance of the tires, maybe wrong camber angle or uneven wear. I would check the tires all around balance and examine the tires for uneven wear.

hell no....i agree with espydur on all of this...i dont know where u guys are getting ur info, but all 2g non turbos have a 130 mph speed governor due to the h rated tires, as was already stated...i will no longer argue this point, my brother is a mitsu tech and i would tend to believe someone who works on these cars everyday over some person who wants to put some b.s. on the internet...all u haters can go ahead and flame me and get mad, but u still didnt pass 130...and as for 165? im not even gonna touch that one!!
 
and dont flame me for putting out my numbers, i have hit over 130 lots of times, i dont care what you say, if i have a govenor its not wotking and when i hit 160-165 it took along time and hit draft from a big truck in front of me, atleast the split second i looked down it was really close to the end of the gauge, mine goes to 165-170.
 
130 MPH limit? I got to about 122 MPH in 5th gear at around 5500 RPM's. The engine just would not pull any more. The rpms would not go any higher. Why would they limit it to 130 MPH when it cant reach 130 MPH.

i keep it in 4th until 120 to 125 @ 65 to 68,000 rps then shift to fith goes to 135mph easy, but for me to get to 150mph takes for ever. i pass like 5 or 6 exits on the express way and each is like 1/2 a mile to 3/4 a mile. i've olny done it like 3 times i get too nervus cause i might get caught and at that speed 1 mistake and its over.

The 420A has never been given a govenor. It does not make enough power stock to get over 130mph so it was really not necessary. With a few mods that all changes. Personally I have seen 150mph and I am considering the inaccuracies in my speedo as I have had it checked. Not at 150 but at 100mph and from there I added in a little more buffer.

"racing"??? LOL:laugh: yeah right. maybe you mean gettin your a$$ handed to you.
 
i've had my 96 at at redline in 5th gear and hit the revlimiter. when i looked at the speedometer it was coming off a 160. i guess 162 like racer x says also.
 
This is one of the most entertaining threads I've read. FWIW, a 1G turbo will do anywhere from 137-140, depending on the conditions. This is with the same body as the 1G NT's, 65 more horsepower, and nearly identical gearing. Somehow, some of you have seen 150+ with a stock 1G NT? (Or 2G, for that matter) Ask yourself this, "Why the hell would a car with 65 *less* horsepower top out ten miles per hour faster?" I would love to hear the reason why *your* stock 1g NT is faster than a 1g turbo.

P.S. Our local club President has the 3rd quickest 2G NT in the country, and I can *guarantee* his car won't do 150.

:laugh: shut the HELL up....you have a ECLIPSE, not ferrari.
