My 98 RS maxed out at about 120 mph!!!

finally someone telling the truth, i dont know about the rest of you, but my 2g nt came with a speed governor not allowing the car to get over 130, due to the lack of z-rated tires from the factory...some of these 140-165 claims might be a little b.s. unless the governor has been done away with and you are heavily modded

My car has no govener, I don't know what you are smoking, and please don't call me a lair just because you have a hard time swallowing the fact that someone else's car goes faster than yours.

1g man. no governor. loved my car. only person in the group we were in that could keep up was my friend in his '93 le baron lx and he even said i was pullin wawy when he maxed (his speedo was a little past 140, he estimates 150+). friends' prelude does little under 130 and my other friends le saber does 120, a little over what his 0-100 speedo says.

98cLipsE:

I do agree with you though that claims of 160mph in a stock NT are BS. Forst of all because the speedo doesn 't go that high so they would have to "guestamate" how fast they are really going. So yeah, I'd say claims of 160mph are total crap.

dont be a dick, i just told you what i know to be true, that there is a 130 mph speed governor on my 2G dumbass, i thought u had a 1g...hmmm...think b4 u flame:mad:

thanks for agreeing, but my speedo goes to 170, so they would know, except the fact that there's no way they'd be going that fast in a nt

i dunno i can only tell you what is take it to be. my car was in two fairly major accidents one from the first owner who hit a tree or so i'm told and my aunt, who had the car previously, hydroplaned and flipped the car in a ditch. the engine was changed, i stress, changed in '94-'95 because it jumped its timing. there is also only 95,000 miles on it, othere wise the car was completely stock. if i had the ratio numbers i'll bet i could calculate the estimated speed. BTW does anybody know where to get those numbers?

My 97 doesn't have a governor. I have driven three or four 2G non-turbos that all went well over 140. Do you have an automatic or 5-speed? Because all the ones I drove are 5 Speeds. I do know that an automatic Spyder GS has a hard time getting over 110, but mine's a 5-Speed.

i have a 5 speed that is fairly well modded, and my car tops out at 141, with the speed governor removed that is, so i still have a very hard time believing u've driven several nt 2g's that went over 140, but whatever, i dont care, im just telling you what i know to be fact, peace....

Dude follow your own damned advice, I didn't flame you, and your name calling is uncalled for. I just said that "I'm not lying" and "I have no gonvener (because it's a 1g)" I didn't say anything derogitory towards YOU! I was actually agreeing with you if you READ FURTHER.

So hey man, if you thought so I'm sorry, but try not to be so anxtious to jump the gun and asume somone is dissing you.

backpedalling

I got a 1994 Eagle Talon ES (Completly Stock ATM) and was testing how fast it would go, so I jumped on the highway and buried the pedal, I hit first and got up to 40MPh the shifted to 2nd, I then got to 60, then hit 3rd I got it up to 100 then hit 4th I got it up to 150 then hit 5th and it buried the speedometer, about 10 miles later I let off the throttle and was getting ready to exit and got pulled over by a highway patrol that was running a camaro. Anyway, he told me that he clocked me at 168MPh and that he couldnt catch me. Needless to say, I spent the night in jail and got my liscense suspended for 6 months, along with a $300.00 speeding fine. I still ask myself if it was worth it....But I tell myself you damn right it was...I dont know many 4 bangers that can do 168MPh STOCK.

Schaumburg... I've been through there... in IL right? The cops there are no joke! I got pulled over for doing 3 over the limit!

B.S. thats all i can say:rolleyes:

I hit 136, took me about 5 miles to do it and I have a pretty much stock
2.0 nt. My timing was off a tooth on the cams before I took it to a
shop which might be the reason I did it. The altitude here is about 6500.

Alright first of all, i'll have to disagree with the 168 stock, some of the 140 claims and even some 150s i can see as reasonable on a modified engine. It wouldn't take a lot to get to 140 or 145, but anything above that and the engine would have a tough time getting rid of that much exhaust. Also every speedometer everyone of you has in your car is wrong. Your speedometer could read different several different times in the day, based on the fact that weather changes and the air in your tires expands and contracts with the temperature changes. On top of that when you are going that fast, your tires heat up rapidly and expand as well throwing your speedometer off even more showing a faster speed than actual. Velocity=distance/time, distance=circumfrance=2piR, so as the tires expand distance increases but time remains the same and velocity increase. The "more air", whether it be expanded or just a larger quantity would make your speedometer more and more inaccurate. Also the speedometers aren't precise or accurate instruments to begin with, they're mass-produced and then calibrated to be within a 4-5 mph range, at low speeds.

Summarizing, most of your claims are probably pretty reasonable but very inaccurate, that's why they test car's top speeds with radar (some tests at top speed car's speedometer is reading 10-15mph faster) so people need to take what they hear with a grain of salt and realize people may be telling the "truth" by what they see on their dash but is more than likely, and hard to prove whether it is right

any speedometer is accurate to +-7 mph or so my tech teacher said in high school. i found that when my friends (both chris and scott)speedometer reads 50 i read 43 mph. so then i don't know where i was at. 142@5000 rpm is what i was readin.

You're probably out of Boost Fluid!

Then, my good sir, you have come to the right place! Feel the difference with Boost Fluid, by Royal Purple. That's right! For a meager $1.25 you can have your very own bottle of the ultra-modern, quasi-existent, fallas fluid for your turbo charged engine.

Dyno tests have repeatedly proven that each bottle inscreased horsepower by 45HP, added more than 125 foot pounds of torque, decreased drag and rotational inertia created by your rims, and eliminated that pesky fat chick that always wants a ride to the store by causing random backfires and creating toxic smoke in the passanger compartment.

Order now! (Royal Purple does not gaurantee performance, nor do they realize they sell this product)
