what should my first mod be for the money?

i am fixing to get a 92 laser rs, awd, turbo, 5-spd. i was wondering what the 6-bolt motor came in? what should my first mod be for the money to give me the best hp gains? i saw a few people run mid 13's with a few upgrades. another stupid question is a MBC, i didn't know if that was upping the boost yourself or buying a new controller. also what is the highest and safest psi you could set for daily driving and could you just bump it up a little for the track as long as you set it back afterwards? you can laugh if you want to just help me out please. thanks

My first mod was a boost guage, cause the one inside the car (if it has one) isn't very accurate. Use this as a guide http://www.dsmtuners.com/sub.php?page=1gtstage0power and check out the free mods, believe it or not, they will help and show you some extra hp.

Boost gauge is a must first. You have to know how much air your shoving in. 15psi is what I have read for stock fuel. I know my first up grade was to remove the BCS. I am not sure if it helps 1g or not, but it is a free mod. A MBC is just what the letters stand for a Manual Boost Controller. If you don't have one, then after you get the gauge that should be your next purchase, again make sure you have an accurate boost gauge first though.

1st thing I would do is get a good exhaust. 2nd a good intake, and then 3rd get a boost gauge & manul boost controler to turn up the boost a bit. I hear 15psi is about the max for stock fuel, and computer.

I ran 15 psi on my stock fuel/t25 daily for like half a year with no problems. But I'd also get exhaust before any other mod, that will give you the best bang for your buck right away.

no 15 is not max but it can be if youd like to be. 1st get the gauges needed its not really a mod but you need them, 2nd mbc, 3rd intake, exhaust and inter cooler pipes, 4th fuel mods, then turbo

I would absolutely get a boost gauge before doing ANY other modification. A bigger exhaust system can possibly lead to boost spike/creep, and you wouldn't know without a boost gauge.

You can get one cheap, they're easy to hook up to your FPRS line, and will tell you what your turbo's doing.

Then follow the Free Mods page, then start stage 1, and eventually stage 2.

This roughly the path you want to follow. I would insert a logger right after (or even before) the boost gauge. In fact, my list would look like this.

1. Data logger.
2. Do every bit of maintenance you can possibly do.
3. Boost gauge.
4. Breathing work
5. Fuel and control
6. Turbo
