What Psi Can You Run On A 1st Gen Maf?

What psi can you run on a 1st gen maf (hacked with silencer removed) with a big 16g before you run into fuel cut issues? I know with a chip, afc, etc you can remove fuel cut but wanted to know how much psi can be ran on stock hacked maf? There are many posts about hacking the maf and about fuel cut but none of them answered this question that I could find! Remember no afc! Thanks for the help!
 
I don't think there is any true answer to your question. I'm running 16psi with no fuel cut now. My mag is completely hacked.
 
As you know the answer will very on a few factors the most noteable is ambient air temperature. In the Summer I can run 17psi on my 16G and never hit fuel cut, but during Winter I hit mad fuel cut on anything over the stock setting ~13psi. Best bet here is to go with one of those chips that remove the fuel cut, Ive seen them priced for about $70.

Maf overrun starts to happen at 1650-1700hz. This is where the air sensor begins to miss counts of air. I know it sounds low but overrun does begin at this point. As you start to flow more air, like 1800-2000hz, there is significant amount of air passing the sensor that's not counted. Your car will still run but it will be very poorly tuned. A S-AFC will help this as it adjusts the frequency signal before the ECU sees it. As far as at whay point will you see fuel cut? This depends on a lot of variables and will be slightly different for everyones car. I ran 25psi on a 1G hacked maf at the shootout last year without hitting fuel cut but my safc settings were very low.
 
Is it possible to get the maf overran with a stock car, i only have an k&n filter and removed the silencer, oh and i have no exhaust from the DP back, i logged about 1600 something Hz at around 6k which is where it occured(fuel cut) and also that's where i started getting around 9 counts of knock. Fuel system is completely stock and im boosting 10 psi. The 02 volts where from .86-.88 (90 gst) so im guessing it was running rich. But my high trims where flat at 100. I'll post the log later on when i get home. Any idea what's the deal here. Thanks for your time.
 
I think 1g MAS's suck a lot more than most people think. Last year I ran into 3 cars that were overrunning them. My 14b car would overrun even a fully hacked MAS at anything over 16psi. Same deal with my buddies 16g car. Putting a bypass tube on both of these cars was absolutely necessary to preventing MAF overrun.

Another friend blew up a motor in his conquest due to MAS overrun. He was running a 16g at 20psi on 110 octane, but the overrun was so bad that it tore his motor up. Now that he has an AFC in the car, you can see that it starts to overrun the stock 1g mas at 10psi.
 
I think the reason some 1G MASs are over run really bad or don't measur air very accurately is because people hack them way too much, or improperly. Removing restrictions in the MAS is kind of stupid, considering it is the predicable turbulace that is measured; anything disrupting this can only make them inaccurate.
 
No way. Hacking definitely helps with overrun. Do you honestly think all the fast 1g MAS guys would run good on a stock MAS? They would blow thier motors before ever completing a pass.
