i know i'm not getting the ss autochrome. but i would like something affordable. i guess im choosing between the punishment racing, and ahp under parts catalog. ne1 got any feedback or suggestions? i'm ready to scare the crap out of people!

I bought a punishment racing o2 dump. Its not the best looking, but it functions fine. Everyone told me that the paint woupld burn off, but it didnt. Although you can see some of the finger prints from putting it on, it still looks fine. It was somewhere around $135 dollars, and Im happy with it. Not to mention when the wastegate flapper opens it scares the crap out of people.

I also run the punishment racing housing on my car. I got mine used for $100 off the classifieds and it fuctions fine. Like stated before its not a show winning piece but it works and fits like its supposed to. Personally I wish I had bought an internal dump housing, the noise is cool for about the first month then it just got annoying and I missed the sound of the turbo spool and exhaust while under full boost. But if you really want one the Punishmnet is a good piece and very affordable, aslo check out nsfabrication.com

It will be loud, and you will scare people. They will be driving themselves to the hospital b/c their ears are bleeding.

Sorry to interrup but whats this sound like does it work with the evo III and where does it dump to ive just started to hear about these since i started looking for a turbo

It is loud, just imagine as soon as you downshift or spool up you are pretty much running 1/2 open exhaust from the turbo. I use a punishment racing 02 housing with dump and it sounds awsome. It dumps right off the turbo behind the driver side fan. People do tend to get pist when you fly by at 130 mph at full boost. I definately recomend punishment racing though.

yea im well aware of the sound. my buddy has one on his vr-4 and it's ridiculous. i feel like saying "i luv it!" from the movie the mask with jim carrey LOL. my apexi n1 is loud so im used to being ridiculous around my town. sounds like punishment is the way to go. is it chrome or a certain color?

Get the one made my 122performance.com he has a few on ebay as well. His name is Andy Beachly. They have a Hi-temp coating on them and the dump tube extends to the bottom of the oil pan so that no exhaust gasses are dumped into the engine bay. I own one myself and I am very impressed with the quality and price. I think they go for $150. Check those sites out. :thumb:

Yeah man, I feel that, I have apexi N1 turbo back w/ stainless steel o2 housing w/ dump. I love the looks I get when passing someone, that look of freight like they literally just got scared to death. My roommate and I just installed the Apex N1 on his 2G last night, when we replace the turbo we have a stainless steel o2 housing w/ dump that's going on too, so he will have the same set up as me. I have to say, I am EXTREMELY satisfied w/ my set up. Opening my wastegate under a bridge or in a tunnel is great! :talon:

i hear ya with tunnels. i go to uofl in louisville and there are tunnels everywhere for my car to have a field day. i'll look into both of th edumps you all have suggested. im still leaning towards punsihment tho i think.

They're talking about O2 housings with plumbing that directs the exhaust gases from the wastegate out into the atmosphere...

...as opposed to rerouting it back into the exhaust system.

These style O2 housings are used when you have a larger turbo with an internal wastegate and are trying to eliminate problems with boost creep. The other option is to switch to an external wastegate, which either vents to the atmosphere or is plumbed back into the exhaust system. Although the latter option is the legal way to go, some folks choose the O2 housing with external dump because it's the cheaper fix.

The reason you won't see them on most DSM's is that they're noisy (as mentioned above), some exhaust gases end up in the cabin (either through the window or A/C intake) and they're illegal because they bypass emissions equipment and probably violate noise ordinances. However, most of the turbo owners with open dumps live in areas without emissions testing and manage to avoid the cops. So, even though they're intended for off-road/race use only, you'll still hear one zoom by your neighborhood at 2:00 in the morning every now and then. :laser:

[Edit]: Sorry guys. That free video host I used is terrible. They changed the video to streaming format, lowered the sound quality and their server is slow as hell.

so they will fit the evo III and fix the boost creep thats known with them if u would extend the tube to underneth the car does it still sound good

Yes, they will fit the EVO III.

No, they will not definitely fix boost creep. The only way to definitely eliminate creep is proper porting or buying an external wastegate.

They make the dump really loud. This sounds good to some people and bad to others. I think loud is the best way to describe the sound.

I tend to use "annoying" myself. :D

No it will most likely not cure boost creep alone unless it was a minor case of creep to begin with. If you're dumping for the NOISE factor then go ahead but if you're doing it for solving boost creep, you'll most likely be dissappointed.

I'm with what he said. I just got mine from him today ( flanged for tial wg and rerouted for $250) and the quality really looks good, especially for the price. The one he sells dumped w/ internal wg is only $150. Just do an ebay search for seller " mommabeachly ". :thumb:
