What Kinda turbo is this?

on the turbo it says:
05-12 491(square)8-071(square)0 S


what did this come off of, and what is the stock boost? also can i lower the stock boost (if so, how?)?

There should be numbers in the squares. Post those.

Also, get us a closer pic. We need to see the compressor blades.

EDIT: Are you sure it's not: 49718-01740 instead of 71? If so, it's probably a 12A.

From the looks of the 3 port wastegate actuator I would have to guess a Starion/Conquest turbo...12a. Smaller than a 1g Auto turbo. Unless you own a starion/conquest it is basically useless.

you are right it does say 17 not 71. so is this definatly a 12a? can this turbo run 5psi?

If you have never seen a starion/quest, then something else to consider is that turbo was made to sit on the top of the manifold, not hang below it like a dsm's.
