Hey I am having a decent oil leak from this little plug on what looks to be the oil pump/filter housing on the drivers side of the motor. What is this plug? I took it off and noticed a small hole in the plug and would like to either plug it up or buy a new one. Any help would be awesome guys!

Is your turbo feed from the head? It looks like it is that is the port for the oil feed from the filter housing. I would go buy a 3/8 npt plug and pull out you pug and the adapter.

Would the 3/8 npt fitting be replacing the brass looking plug that turns outward or the standard hex looking thing? I can't get the brass one out but can get the hex head one out.

The 3/8 npt plug would replace the hex head adapter. You should be able to find the plug at you local hardware store or home depot or lowes. They typically have a square head on them. I would get a steel one I do not recommend a brass one. They are going to be in the plumbing section.

The threads are 3/8 BPT not NPT and BPT plugs are a bi*** to find.

When I plugged that hole on my 2g after switching to the head for oil for the turbo I used a 8mm square head bit and a breaker bar to grab one of those plugs which come stock in 4g63 oil coolers to plug the hole. Non-turbo 4g63 1gs are usually plentiful in junkyards and have a couple of the plugs you need. Much more elegant solution than cramming a NPT plug into a BPT hole and buggering the threads.

Edit: it appears the part number for the plugs I'm talking about is MD145018 if you want to get a new one.

I couldn't find anything big enough on any of the 1st gen's at the junkyard. The plug we pulled out was way bigger than 3/8's I think. We used a 19 mm wrench to turn it out. The brass fitting on it wouldn't turn at all so we are most likly going to find a plug at a hardware store or something to put in it.

Go to a junk yard and get a hex plug out of a 95-97 galant. Its the same oil filter housing. BPT i almost impossible to find. We ran into that problem with my gf's 2g

Alright I looked in all the 1st gens and galants and I kept finding the same size plug in those 2 cars but it is too small for the one that goes in mine. They all have a big head but small threaded end. This is a picture of what I kept finding. Let me know if this is the wrong thing. It is the only plug that is sticking out.

That is the oil pressure sensor. The plug you're looking for is going to be an allen head that sits flush with the face of the housing. I actually have a few in my box-o-bolts.

Its right beside that oil pressure switch. Its black and has an hex wrench head. You cant miss it. There is one up top and one on the bottom. Thats the exact one that you need.

There you go. Its right beside or right below the arrow. Whichever one you want to grab. IDK the size of it bit its pretty big so carry a nice set of allen wrenches with you when you go.

:hellyeah: Thanks a ton guys, i shouldn't have a problem finding one of these seeing as the junkyard 1 mile down the street from me has about 20 1st gen dsm's. Sadly nothing there is turbocharged.... or was ever for that matter.

They'll look like dirtier versions of this...

Alright I got my tools together and plan to head over to the junkyard right after school and get it out. Thanks for the pictures showing what I need to pull.

Just great. I went there today with my 8mm allen and a bar, and of course, every one that I tried would strip out. I will have to go back and try some more tomorow.

Hey man, shoot me a couple bucks in paypal and I'll send you a couple of them. PM me.
