What is this part? Where can I get it?

If you look under the car from the rear and look at the rear suspension there are two bars going from the brace looking thing between the gas tank and trunk to the rear suspension. I need to know what the lower one is and if anyone knows where I can get it. Thanks in advance. This is a 95 Eclipse RS.

Well, I couldn't see anything from the picture, but I will make this these assumtions, somene can corret me if you can actually see what he's talking about.

1st thing
The thing under the car is probably a lower tie bar Like a DC sports brand. You can pick one of those up at overboost.com

2nd thing
For even better performance if you were to get the RM sway bars, they replace the stock sway bars and really help the handling. It goes under the car too and ties the two wheels together in the front and the back more a less.

3rd thing.
The bar that goes in across the trunk, is called a rear strut bar, you can get one of those just about anywhere. I paid 100 bucks for my Front DC sport carbon fiber strut tower bar from nopi, and got my rear strut tower bar from Ebay for like 30bucks shipped.

Its your thing. But basically those are all designed to strenthen the chassi in the corners and reduce body roll, so your car will hug the road better

Sorry if this pic is bad(cellphone) but it is the lower bar in this pic

If you are talking about the lower arm that connects the knuckle (i.e., the thing that holds the wheel) to the chassis going straight in from the wheel, then that's the lower lateral control arm. You also have a trailing link, if you mean the piece angling back from the chassis to the wheel.

Everything that the previous answer went on about are aftermarket. Your question made me think that you were talking about stock parts.

The only thing I need to know is what is the name of the bar that is closest to the ground in that picture and where I can get it. Please can someone tell me a positive answer so I can go looking for it. Thanks.

Like jtoby said it is the lower lateral control arm. The mitsubishi dealer is the only place to get one unfortunately. The easiest way to get one is to take the vin number down, and go to your local dealer and order one, if it needs to be ordered than you will need to pay in advance.

The thing to be careful about when you go to a dealer to get a rear lower lateral control arm is this.

In the computerized parts catalog that Mitsubishi uses, this part is actually referred to as "rear suspension, lower control arm, front arm." Why is it the "front arm"? Because they do not refer to the lateral control arm as the lateral control arm and to the toe arm as a toe arm (because that would be too simple and would avoid mistakes). Instead, they refer to both the lateral control arm and the toe arm as "lower control arms," and then make the distiction between control arm and toe arm in terms of which is more towards the front of the car. Since the lateral control arm is slightly in front of the toe arm (as well as below it), they call the lateral control arm the "front arm."

Go to the link below, pull up your car, and then click "rear suspension" then "control arm" then "front arm" and then click "view illustration" and it all will become clear. I hope.

Note: as you can see in the catalog picture, you do not get a new inboard bushing for the lower control arm when you order just the control arm. It's a separate part for an extra $6. Get it. Don't mess with trying to press out the old one.

ps. have lots of PB'laster ready when you get ready to swap the arm and try to get access to air tools, because on a 95 it's going to be stuck

Thanks, now I know exactly what I'll be looking for. When I swap this part out will I have to get it aligned again?

In theory, a new alignment isn't needed, unless you are replacing the arm because it is bent. However, theory and practice don't spend a lot of time with each because they don't get along. I'd get it aligned.

Thanks everyone and especially to JToby. This if my first post in this forum(I think) and everyone replied quickly and with helpful information. Thanks again. :thumb:

you can get a used one here :

& if you bent that arm badly, chances are other parts are going to be bent.

This is the part number for the version with a sway bar... you should be able to use that one too: MR131754

Bushing: MB809170

They might not be valid p/n's anymore. Write down your vin num and take it in with you, just in case.
