What is this clicking when i press the clutch?!?

It has been doing it a few days now, and what happens is when i press the clutch, about halfway down i can feel a click, and when the car is off i can hear the click. What is going on here? It isn't sticking or anything like that, it just makes the clicking noises everytime i press my clutch. Sometimes twice in one press. Is this a common problem or an easy fix? Im clueless here, help!

haha..i had this prob...it was the capalary line for the boost gauge comin through the firewall....it got pulled in somehow and hit the top on the pedal when depressing it.

The stock boost guage? because i dont have an aftermarket one... yet. Hopefully it's somthing simple, had me worked up for a second there, only own the car for 5 days and this happens.

Same thing here....i don't even bother with it, if it works...it works...hasn't hurt the car yet....have had it since last August...no problem with it, other than the throw out bearing being noisy as ever b/c the previous owners did not replace it.

It's probably the clutch return spring. After age sets in it starts to wear a groove in the hole it passes through on the pedal, once it does it slides in and out of that little groove as you puch the pedal down and makes that annoying clicking noise.

You have two switches on the clutch arm, the cruise shutoff and the starter interlock.

On 1Gs, they tend to wear out the bushing in the lever pivot.

It's probably the clutch return spring. After age sets in it starts to wear a groove in the hole it passes through on the pedal, once it does it slides in and out of that little groove as you puch the pedal down and makes that annoying clicking noise.

It is the plunger your clutch depresses. It just needs a little lube and will stop making the noise. If you look up near the pedels you can see the arm from the clutch joining the car and that is where this plunger is (as the dealership told me when I asked) right by the return spring. I just used some WD-40 and the problem went away for like 6 months. Just had to re-lube it last week and I'm click-free.

In a 2G it is probly the switch that makes you press the clutch in to start the car.

If you still have to push in the clutch to get your car to turn over, then you haven't located it yet to see what it looks like. If you have dissengaged it then you will know what to look at to see if it is indeed making the noise.

Had the same problem on and off for years. It was just an annoyance as far as I was concerned. A few weeks ago though, it came back. This time I could "feel" it when I pushed the clutch in and it didn't go away like it always had. I figured it was the clutch safety switch but when I climbed under my dash to take a look, it turned out that it was the clutch master cylinder (which had also developed a very small leak). A few days later I changed the clutch master cylinder. Not only did the "click" go away, but shifting was considerably smoother.

I also had the double-click for about 3 months. When I changed the clutch master cylinder, it went away. Hmmmmm..........
