What is this chip?

That's an eprom keydriver chip..But most keydriver chips have the mods writtin on them..This one does not.If you know who, or where it came from maybe you can find what mods or tune is on the chip..

It's for a 1g as your can see..

That's not a Keydiver.

I think those guys were hated years back for copying TMO and Jeff's chips, but it likely has the same build.

I actually didn't know that there was 3 or more different names for the chips..I thought everybody just called them keydrivers..

I guess I learned something today..Thanks for correcting me Kris..

^ I really was just wanting to make sure he didn't think it came from Jeff. The chip itself is generally referred to as the "eprom chip". If you have a reader/burner you can make them. I don't think I'd experiment with it by sticking it in a car. You really have no idea what size fuel injectors this chip is compensated for, which is the main reason I wouldn't run it unless you have a way of reading it first. As stated above, I am pretty sure this particular aftermarket eprom chip is basically a copy of a TMO chip or dsmchips.com chip. If you can find out what size injectors and what MAS this chip is setup for and it matches what you have or want to run, then I'm sure it will work just fine. I was always happy with my dsmchips.com chips as I had Jeff make me several for my DSM's over the years.

No I actually did not know there was a differen't name for a chip based on who made them..I did know it's a tuned chip or eprom chip..

Then my question would be..What is the proper names of the chips based on who makes them?So I don't ever have to get the chip anme wrong again..

I know eprom chip would be a basic name for the chip, but I want to make sure I know the difference for future reference..

It's an EPROM; they all are.

The only time they get a "name" is if they are branded/sold with one.

You'd have to know the specific labeling differences between each person or company that has made eprom chips over the years. I don't even think I can do that 100%. To start out, TMO aka Technomotive (if my memory serves me correct) is the first one I can remember coming out but I don't recall the label on the chip. A chip from Jeff aka Keydiver (his forum name on most forums) aka dsmchips.com (the actual business name) will have something like this:
80/65/65 KNOCK
660cc 11:1 15*
Mitsubishi Specialties is labeled as pictured above. I've seen other chips labeled with hand written specs on a simple white sticker. That's a pretty good sign it was made by somebody with a reader/burner that's either doing their own tuning or just stealing it from TMO/dsmchips or from somebody's successful tune done at home.
That's about as much description as I can write down. I've got a few old chips I can take a picture of them for reference a little later.
