Ok i have a stupid ? im new to DSM so bare with me. Ok we are on a rd trip and the car a 1997 Eclipse GS with a 420a motor the car had been fine for like the first 100 miles but after the stop and go of trafic jam the car seemed to have no power at all and wouldnt go over 40mph so i shifted to a lower geer nothing happen (Auto tranny) and then after a few miles the car lost all power and started to slow down as to die so we got off the high way and pulled over it never died but after i poped the hood to check it out i noticed a hum comming from this little back box on the driver side with all of these wires comming out of them. After i check the ECU codes and it came back for the map and tps sensor so i unpluged them for a bit pluged them back in after a while the hum stoped... so i took it for a test drive before we got back on the high way and it was fine. but after about 20 miles it started to hum and i could hear it from inside the car but only when i gave it gas.... after we got to a motail i pop the hood again and the box was humming again but idk what the box is it looks like an ECU but idk i just want to make it home so ### help it would be great!

Mine hums as well, it sounds like CAP whine.

Ive been contemplating opening it up and checking for bad caps

oh i see how would you do that i really dont want to get stuck here im like 100+ miles away from home LOL

Really? Wow, that's interesting. Maybe it would be worth a shot to take a second look at the map and tps sensors since that's where the trouble codes were pointing.

Mine hums too. I used to hear itbut then I installed my wally fuel pump. Whenever I turn my car off I can hear it whine for a minute.

yep thats how this is so im starting to think nothing of it. but i think that one of the fuel injectos are pluged up and after awhile the car starves for gas so im going to have her get some cleaner and go from there
 
The hum could be from the volt regulator for the alt that is inside it.
 
I have another question, my girlfriend was driving her car. and all of the sudden out of no where it just stalled. she tried starting it and would not start at all. would act like it was going to but didn't. ended up having to tow it home. i can the ecu codes by turning the key. but i dont understand how to read them. it will blink once and then twice and the four and then three so on and so fourth i dont know if that means it is 12? 43? and what not? could you please help ?
 
i have an 95 talon esi..my ecu started to humm i never thought about it untill one day i was riding and the check engine light flashed car stalled then the humm went away..started the car drove it home and it was fine for about a week..my g/f drove to school it was fine she came out to come home damn thing wouldn't start...got it home checked fuel pressure..no pressure..checked fire....no fire..checked injector pulse..guess what no pulse..no comunication with scan tool....the ecu took a crap...come to find out the alt went bad causing the ecu to go out because chrysler put the volt regulator in the darn ecu...
