So after putting my front mount intercooler on along with some other things including a BOV, and new intake, (that is now recirculating) my car is running a little funny. Whenever I turn my car on, at idle, it feels as if my exhaust is cutting out every now and again. When I drive I can't really feel a huge difference, but something is definitely not right. Just to add my cel came on after a couple days of driving after the install of the intercooler and at about the same time, one of my radiator hoses eroded and made my temp gauge go up a little, but I fixed that hose and now everything is fine with that, but my check engine light was still on. I unhooked my battery to turn my cel off and it is still off with a couple days of driving, but something is still not right with the way it is running. I changed my spark plugs and wires to see if that was the problem and it was not. Another thing that may help to add is the back of my car is all dirty because of the smoke coming from my exhaust. I have a red car and above the and around the exhaust it is black and this has never happened before. I took it to a mechanic and he said he couldn't even start to fix the problem because of my aftermarket parts and he doesn't know what to do. He told me that it has to do with my air/fuel ratio, but dsmer's from other sites are telling my it should have nothing to do with that unless I added bigger injectors. Please help me out!

do a boost leak test
:thumb:

Definitely a good start! Im not familiar with 2Gs as of yet but an engine is an engine
Even though your mods are somewhat minimal you alter the airflow to some extent. :hellyeah: FMIC :hellyeah:
Since the only person that could look at it said Air Fuel and you did in fact alter the airflow system Im gonna go with him on this one. :hmm::hmm:

Maybe?? Like I say not familiar with 2Gs but you did change the air so in theory there should be an equal change to fueling :hmm:

It could most definitely be a boost leak. Think about it. You just put on a fmic and intake setup with new bov and everything. Messing around with intake setup should always be followed by a boost leak test, you never know what new gasket/seal may be leaking or what coupler hasn't sealed right.

+1 on the boost leak test.

Could It possibly have anything to do with my o2 sensor? I did a boost leak check and I didn't have any.

It could be caused by the 02 sensor.

According to your profile you have 660 injectors and nothing listed to tune those with. What are you using to compensate for the injectors? Do you at least have a logger? Also what fuel pump and how much boost are you running?

Im not running my 660 injectors. I have them. Just have yet to put them in because I have nothing to tune with yet. I have a walboro 255 btw. What type of O2 sensor do I need? A pre-cat or a post-cat?

Ok. I just ordered one of those. If my O2 sensor was bad, would that make my car run rich? Also will it help out my mpg since all of a sudden I am getting terrible mpg?

Here's an update. I ordered a new o2 sensor that I am awaiting and I am going to install that. Fixed the black smoke problem. Turns out that my j-pipe was not on very securely. Took that off and put it on nice a tight and that stopped the black smoke. CEL is still on however. Engine still shakes at idle though. It will be running smoothe at idle for a bit and then all of a sudden it will start to cut out and shake a bit. And then run nice and just keep doing that. Now white smoke is coming out of my exhaust? Any ideas?

Seems like a good place to start would be the o2 sensor. If u threw off ## air/fuel ratio by adding the fmic it could have made ## sensor go bad. I would replace that and reset ## ecu(unhook the positive from the battery for 20 or so minutes then re-connect) Also i would suggest getting a wideband AEM, PLX ne thing so that u can monitor ## air/fuel. And get a logger if u dont have one so u can have that window into what ## ecu is seeing. :thumb:

Also check to make sure ## maf connector is tight.

changing your o2 sesnor will help increase your mpg.
As for your problem, i agree on the boost leak tes twith everyone else. Re-check all your couplings and make sure they are all tightened down good.
