edmonton,
just wondering what is the normal operating temperature for a 1g talon tsi, and I'm asking regarding the needle position on the stock gauge, thanks

is it better for the temp to be more on the "cool (left)" side or the "hot (right)" side?

A hair past the 1/2 mark. On the logger it's reading from 197 to 204 degrees. I've got a 190* thermostat in it and a 13lb cap on it.

Unless you have a new sender, don't count on the position of the needle for much. It will always vary car-to-car, which is why newer cars have gone to a "centering" needle that won't wander unless things are drastically out of range.

I tend to agree w/ defiant.. I blew my head gasket and had my car running while I was on the commode (taking a #2).. My buddy said about 5 seconds after I went inside it started blowing smoke (heavily) after a weird noise.. Needless to say it ran for about 10 minutes afterwards *he never drove a turbo car and thought it was normal for getting colder out* and my needle was still half way when I finally got to shut it down... :toobad:

the needle is really not important if you dont know that its accurate.. but normal would be in the middle... just like everyone else stated on here... you could always check the voltage on the cts and that will tell you about what temp it will be... dont know where you can get a chart to reference it though...

Yes, we're all encouraged to :)
