Well today I'm cruising around with my a/c on and according to my palm the water temp was at around 196-210 not bad you might be thinking. Then I left the car on for a minute then came back and my temp was around 230. So my question is at what temperature would it be classified as overheating? Any answers be appreciated, thanks. :thumb:

The water temps will rise when you shut the car off because the latent heat in the engine (the block is higher than coolant temps) will transfer to the water. With no water flow as the pump is off the system will heat up...this is normal and not a problem at all.

Now if your coolant temps go up at a light or when you slow down that is a problem and you need to look at your flow and thermostat.

When you restart your car if the coolant temps come down reasonably fast then you are all golden at this point.

I mean I didn't shut the car off I parked it and left it idling then went somewhere and came back in a minute and it was up to 230. So is 230 overheating or what let me know thanks.

FYI- Car has a new radiator and thermostat that is 4 month old and I filled up the radiator with 30/70% coolant/water mixture and put in a bottle of royal purple ice.......

Check your flow on your pump that is too high.

Pull off the upper coolant hose and start the car...it should shoot out like nothing. of course what you are describing is also a sign that the coolant is just low. First thing you need to do is check it (under the cap and not in the resevoir). If it is low fill it up and replace with a new cap...if it goes low again look for leaks.
