Coolant temperature dropping

Hey all, I just picked up a stock 1999 gs-t and have a strange issue. My coolant temperature stays right in the middle normally and never overheats. It does drop though especially if i'm going downhill and in gear. It will go from the middle of the gauge to 1/4 of the way down then back up again when a load is put on the engine. Happens more when it's colder outside. All of this is measured from the stock coolant temp gauge. Search didn't bring anything up; anyone ever experienced this?

I would check your coolant level first. if its good, check and make sure you arent dropping voltage when it happens. It could also be a bad sending unit or your thermostat does not close all the way. If u have a scan tool or a way to log, check and see what the temp is actually doing. If it is dropping, try the thermostat.

maybe your running a colder tstate instead of the stock unit ?

I would check the fluid level and is if there is air in the system.
