Alright so I'm doing all the wirring in my car and I went to plug back in the coolant temperature switch (for the A/C I think, Its at the top of the water neck, has the white connector), and the whole white connector just turned to dust. It was crazy. I got rid of my a/c, so I was wondering if I really needed this? Can I just leave it unplugged?
Thanks!

I do believe its for the A/C as well, try leaving it unplugged see if the main radiator fan comes when the engine gets up to temp, near halfway on the factory gauge ( 192F?), im not exactly certain whether it has any effect on the main radiator fan's normal operation.

I wired both the fans to come on with my A/C button, which is always running. Is that all that temperature switch controls? I wasn't sure. Thanks for the input!

I believe the main radiator fan only comes on when the temp is reached via the sensor in the bottom of the radiator ( just below the main fan, part of the main fans wire harness). Or also if the ac button is engaged as well.

On a side note my friends 1g had his wires broken going to the A/C coolant temp switch on the water neck, ( his a/c is also inoperable) but when he turns on his a/c switch on the dash his fan always turns on, he only has the main radiator fan ( ac fan is removed).

So just give it a shot, unplug it and you will be able to engage the fan via the ac button, it might just only turn on the main radiator fan, with the sensor unplugged, let us know what happened with it.

Yes please let us know, because a wire broke off of my sensor (im his friend) and i dont think my fan ever engages the tempurate got up to about 229* or something didnt it john? i dont know he was holding the logger.

What did you end up finding out? Looks like we found out that with the coolant temp switch(a/c) unplugged the main radiator fans still comes on normally, hope this helps :thumb:

I'm probably still a couple days from getting my car running.:(
Curious to what effect it'll have on the condenser fan circuit? I guess it can be wired up otherwise, I'm just not sure where it is on the circuit and what it exactly controls.
I'll let you know what I find out, I'll try to go over some wiring diagrams..

Well I did some researching.. For anyone else wondering the A/C coolant temperature sensor, is only in circuit to cut the A/C compressor once the coolant has reached roughly 239*. So the A/C doesnt farther overheat the car, of course.. Thanks for the input! I found one more thing I can take out of my engine bay to clean up :thumb:
