I had an "expert" socket an eprom for me and he messed it up and I don't know if it is repairable.

I was lucky to find another eprom at a junk yard and now I need it socketed.
I can't afford for that to happen again. Who does the best job at socketing ecu's? Prices would also be nice to know.

thank you.

Blush.

The circuit traces on 2g ECUs are pretty fine and sometimes the heat from desoldering the pins can crack them. That's why using a temp controlled soldering iron is critical. However most of the time the damage seems to be caused by carelessness, some even look like a crowbar was used when they got tired of trying to get all the solder out of the holes.

It's good that you have a replacement but you should send in the damaged one too and have it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing.

I'm clearly biased but if I were needing work Dave at ECMTuning is the only other person I'd trust with my stuff.
