between test pipes, down pipes, turn pipes and if I want my car to be comfortably loud so that i can hear people talk in the car but also turn heads when I hold the clutch and rev it;) what do you suggest. I was looking into skunk2 but I don't know what to get.. Any suggestions? Thanks

a test pipe is a small section of pipe that can be mounted in place of the catalytic converter, usually for race or testing use only - definitely not street legal
the downpipe is the section with the 90ish degree bend in it that goes from the turbo to the catalytic converter or on a non-turbo car, from the exhaust manifold to the cat
never heard of a turn pipe but that may just be another name for downpipe since it goes down and turns
when upgrading your exhaust to larger, freer flowing pipes, it will be louder - the sound will depend on what catback system or muffler you choose - i personally chose the thermal r&d catback system because it was the deepest, throatiest sound i could find

The best way to find out if you like the sound of an exhaust is to find someone with the same car and same exhaust and ask them. If you have emissions testing in your area, you'd need a cat. If you don't, then you might consider a 2nd muffler where the cat would be, or the exhaust will often drone between 2500-3000rpm.

I have a custom 3" exhaust, a high flow cat, and a dynomax muffler and I can comfortably talk to people while cruising, but it still turns heads when I stomp on it. It is possible to do both.

Yeah, a high flow cat or a 2nd muffler in its place helps with drone. Mine drones at low rpm but not high, but when I get on it, it sounds badass. One of these days I'll put something where the cat used to be.

Yeah, I have almost no drone. I've thought about making a test pipe for it. It's a slip fit exhaust, so it wouldn't be complicated at all.

If you do that, I'd be curious to find out if it starts to drone between 2500 and 3k. I've heard several other 3" exhaust owners complain about drone in that rpm band, and a couple have fixed it by adding a hi-flow cat or a 15x5 cylindrical in-line, straight-through muffler (basically a huge resonator) where the cat would be. Apparently, it's all about exhaust volume or something.

i have an exhaust cut out right after the down pipe. its def very loud and vibrates the whole car at lower rpm. i love havin a loud car. haha but i can always close it off if i need to
