What is the button under the hood?

On the passenger side of my 90 Talon next to one of the fuse boxes there is a button at first I thought it was a hood switch but there is no light to switch on so is it for the factory alarm or what?

On my friends spyder thats what it is.

Its part of the factory alarm system. Suppost to set the alarm off is the hood is illegally opened from outside the vehicle when the vehicle is locked

It could be the button that tell the car the hood is open and sets off the light inside you gauges.
