Is it for emmisions or does the car actually use it? The reason I ask is when I put my 3" exhaust on I didn't have time to drill the hole for the o2. And now my car bogs like crazy like the rpm's go up and the turbo spools fine but the car goes nowhere at all. Could this be the 02 or something else?

Solution
your rear 02 is only for the computer to see if the cat is working. thats all it has nothing to to with how the engine runs. it just compares the 02 content in the exhaust before and after the cat. you will get a CE light with out it. but it should still run ok.

bfdahl is correct, it just lets the ECU know that the cat is working properly.

Did you connect the ground strap to the new exhaust.. do you have a logger?

so what you guys are saying is it makes no difference by removing the sensor besides CEL? When I took my car to the shop the guy didnt want to do it since it would make the car run richer and melt my engine internals. Well I guess melted internals is what made my car perform better. I was curious to what hes asking as well any other comments?

as all said is correct. I took mine out when i got my 3" cat back. Its still plugged in just tied up. It will throw CEL like i got and engine codes P1400 and P2500 i beileve they are the codes. I reset them a few times but they come right back. No biggie. There is also a O2 simulation out there somewhere that is suppose to trick the ECU into thinking there is a working 02 then it doesnt throw a CEL i might start looking into that myself.

The link for the defeat is above :)

Those two codes are: O2 sensor heater and bad O2 sensor value. The bad value pops up if the sensor "sees" that the cat isn't doing it's job, or the sensor is dead. The other one pops up if the sensor isn't plugged in or the heater craps out.
