Im looking for the quietest exhaust with a nice tone. Ive heard the RS-R exhaust and the apexi n1 are the 2 quietest exhausts out there. which one is quieter? thanks

exhaust is a pipe. there isnt too much difference between the sound of pipes made by different companies. the more bends, neckdowns, resonators and restrictions of any kind, the quieter it will be.. but that also means it wont flow as nicely.

I have the quietest exhaust around here when just cruising untill WOT and then it becomes the loudest i think ive heard. I have the Apexi N1 downpipe(no cat), and Greddy Evo back *bolts right up :thumb:

get the n1, leave the silencer on if you wish.

the n1 isnt all farty obnoxious loud, its just a nice deep rumble.

i have a 3" megan racing cat eliminating downpipe and a 3" extreme motorsports catback. basicly 3" straight pipe from the o2 housing back, and that is ported to all hell. my exhaust is a lot more "turboey" sounding then a couple of my buddies cars that have the n1. one of them is externally dumping so that kind of changes things heh but the other sounds more motor like. when i let off the gas you can hear the turbo slowing down sort of like open o2 sounds, and when its floored it is pretty damn loud, but its a deep kind of loud. it has a resonant edge at higher rpm wot, but there is a lot of turbo whine to hear too.. sounds kind of like a jet engine mixed in with a bassy rasp. very cool sound. downpipe and cat selection have as much of an impact on the final note as the catback does. my car went from cool sounding on just the catback to evil hell beast with the downpipe added in :)

I dunno what Apexi N1 you've seen before, but mine and all my friend's N1 are loud as hell. Its actually one of the loudest exhaust out when you don't use the silencer. I always shift at 3k rpm because it just gets too loud for my neighborhood.

On the other hand, the RSR you've spoke about is pretty damn quiet. I've seen quite a few of them with the large canister tip, and is still pretty quiet. It sounded stock at idle and roared a little when wot. RSR also has a version thats dual tip. Kinda like the stock look.

where did you find that RSR exhaust with the twin tips? ive been tearing this evil Internet apart to try and find it, but no such luch thus far. i like the stock twin tip thing, so it sounds about perfect for me.

Tossing in the upgrade to the Evo... I LOVE my evo2. Its really quiet until you want it to be loud and then it sounds NIIIICE. 3 inch...mmmmmmmmm
and even after I get my eibachs on it will still be about 4 inches from the ground (at the lowest point, under the rear suspension.... stocker goes above it on the GST but 3" is a bit too big).... thats not hitting much unless im jabbing my wheels into my trunk

apexi = LOUD...im replacing mine very soon...i will post a thread when it comes off, if anyone is interested in it PM me

I believe RS*R hasn't been around since the late 90's, early 2001-01?
So the only place you could find one would be used.

Many people get them confused w/ RNR

I have an RS*R on my car and it is so quiet that you would think it is stock. Even at WOT it is not intrusive. Hell, I hollowed out my hi flow cat to make it louder and it is still quiet.

Not really? Google it...

Info:
- quietest exhaust note on the market (most applications)
- refined stealth like appearance
- ceramic coated mandrel bent piping
- dyno proven gains in horsepower and torque
- engineered in Japan
- signature RS-R exhaust tip (a.k.a. fart cannon)
- constructed with 409 stainless steel for long life
With the street performance enthusiast in mind, RS-R developed the ExMag exhaust line to provide powerful gains in horsepower and torque while retaining a quieter exhaust note. It is a well known fact that it is extremely difficult to produce an exhaust system that makes good power without the excessive noise. However, through extensive R&D at RS-R Headquarters in Japan, all ExMag systems have been dyno proven to provide significant power increases over similar exhaust systems. Our ``Exhaust Magic`` lineup offers an excellent alternative to the noisy ``coffee can`` style of exhausts.

If you`re tired of getting tickets and citations for excessive noise, this is the exhaust system you need. The classic styling and stealth like design will also help keep your car off the radar

Well thats better. It didn't say anything about that in the ad.
I would think it's more of common sense or implied...no offense. I don't think any muffler itself would be $700 unless it's made out of pure titanium or something.
