IDK wether to say maf or maf-t. I'm confused with the terms. I searched but posts just come up as should I get a 3" or 3.5"?

So what does this thing do? Would I need to buy and safc to get this or will it work just fine with my eprom ecu? I want to recirculate the bov but if I can vent that wouldn't bother me. If you can explain in detail what this thing does and what benefits I can achieve from it and how I do that... Appreciate it.

maf and maft are both right.
Benifits = faster spool, more options with intakes, less restriction, can tune for injectors, ability to vent
3 or 3.5" will be fine if you have 2-2.5" piping then go with a 3"
you dont need a s-afc as the maft will do the same thing, but a afc will be you more controll. (un needed on a low-modded car)

The 2G DSM has a MAS. The MAF is the sensor made by GM. The MAFT is the MAF Translator. A 3" MAF will be plenty for your needs.

What does it do? It removes a restriction before you turbo by removing the 2G MAS and allows you to vent your BOV.

DO you need to get an SAFC or burn a chip for the E-Prom? - No. You can use it as a tuning device with the aid of a logger, but it won't be as good as a SAFC.

With that said the 2G MAS is good for over 400WHP, many people have done it.

MAF and MAF-T are the same thing I believe. You should just get the 3in', as 3.5in' seems like overkill. I am assuming you have 2.5 in. intercooler piping since that is the common size.

What it does, is replace your mass air sensor that is on your intake, and it goes on your upper intercooler pipe. You do not need a safc to run one, but you do need a different intake, a MAF translator, and proper couplers.

There are several different benifits to switching to MAF-T. First, it helps the turbo spool faster since the is no MAS to block the air on the intake. Although it is not a huge difference. Secondly, they support more horsepower, but the 2g MAS are good above 400whp, so few people really meet this limitation. Third, it will allow you to vent since now you won't have unmetered air. Not that venting really helps performance, but we all know how wicked it sounds, and it is itimidating to others, imo.

MAF = Mass Air Flow sensor.

MAFT= Mass Air Flow sensor Translator.

IMO, it's overrated and in many instances inaccurate and needs serious calibrating, reason why many DSMLink users are going back to the 2G mas. If you already have an eprom, stay with the 2G mas, $300 venting price tag is simply rediculous.

Hmm..that's probably why I seen so many thread titles asking q's about GM maf with DSMLINK? Well my mods are minimum and this gm sensor wasn't that much, 30 bucks. Will a translator be mandatory? For now it can free up space in the engine bay but when future mods come and dsmlink comes into play I can research more about the oem 2nd gen maf vs. gm maf.

Yes, the translator is necessary if you plan on using the GM MAF.

There are two different places you can put it. One being in blow thru setup which is between the bov and the throttle body. This is the way that will allow you to vent the bov if you choose to do so. You can either buy an upper intercooler pipe already made for this (the GM MAF just bolts in) or you can modify your current one and get 2 reducers for either side of the MAF.

The other way is draw thru (and is less popular). This is basically replacing your stock MAS with the GM MAF. This will not allow you to vent the bov properly!
