I bought this '96 GST for a great price, but the speed gauge was not working. I thought either sensor or the cluster it self.. well i went to check the sensor and found this (see image). As you can see there is a mess where the sensor used to be.. the 2nd image shows a piece of metal i pulled out, could that be the remains of the speed sensor? What are my options? it almost looks like there is melted on plastic residue where the sensor should go...
My 2nd question is, the car has a small 16g turbo, exhaust and intake.. the wastegate is connected to a boost pipe so it is running minimum boost. Is it safe to connect it back to the factory boost controller? I don't have any current plans on upgrading the fuel system or any electronics but would like a little the bump up the boost to a safe but higher level. I don't mind installing a boost gauge, but don't want to go as far as a safc or anything like that..
