I keep hearing this and am completely new to the DSM world. so Im just gonna ask.

what is an Eprom ECU?

how does it differ from what is in my car?

what does it mean by saying its been socketed?

what to look for when puchasing?

does it work in a 5 speed and auto car?

I mean I know absolutely nothing about these, so let me have it. thanks

Eprom ecu's have a 28 pin chip that can be removed and replaced with a socket that can accept a custom programmed chip , or one of a few different tuning setups. IT's hard to tell what your car, it could have an eprom, it could not. You will have to look at the cover and the part number. At the bottom right of the sticker there will be a letter usually a m, f, h . If it has an e there than you have an eprom ecu (as long as the board hasn't been swapped)

Hate to say it but use the search. There is a wealth of information for you and if you can't find it there head on over to ecmlink's site and they will either have the information or be able to answer any question you have. There site also has pictures to help you out.
