ok awhile back a buddy of mine (w/ 97 gst) cut a hole about 5/8"x 1/4" on the dumptube between the intake snorkel and the BOV. His car is 100% stock. Obviously, this made the BOV sound louder (YAY!
) but anyway..here are the questions i want to know simply to understand how the car works. Keep in mind i don't actually plan on doing this, i simply want to know these questions so let's try to keep the newbie flaming to a minimum:
-Does doing this affect boost/vac?
-Does this usually cause unwanted side effects? (stalling, low idle, etc)
-How is this hurting/helping the car?
-Does it have a greater effect on modified applications? (even if it's just a louder noise it is still an effect. keep this in mind)
-is this technically "venting to the atmosphere?"
-what would happen by removing the dumptube altogether (and simply putting a cap on the intake snorkel side)?
sorry...d@mn noobs i know i know!
