what exhaust is good for a GST ?

i was thinking about getting an EVO II but i heard they rust pretty quickly.. should i ignore that factor ? my friend has a skunk2 exhaust on his civic that sounds very nice. i also see a lot of DSM tuners have an apexi n1... is that the best for a DSM or something ?

any advice would be great !

Im running a blitz but many of my friends have the apexi....i like the blitz a lil better because its deeper not too loud....but they both tend to preform really well

A friend of mine has a bone stock 97 gsx and was thinking of putting in a 3 inch straight through exhaust and a muffler at the end

where we live cops dont really bother us about emmissions and all

I have a 3" custom cat-back from a local muffler shop. I was worried when i pourchased it, since i bought it on good faith without hearing it, that it was gonna be a ricey fart-can. It came out sounding amazing. Its the same dB level as a stock car, but alot deeper and throatier, sounds pretty badass and it just looks like a stock can and tip comin out

Think i walked away from the shop -350$ but + badass exhaust

you wont even near the sound of the civic with the skunk2 since youve got a turbo so i reccomend the apexi N1, if you want a fairly nice sound get the whole N1 turbo back.

well my friend with the civic has a greddy turbo kit... it sounds good 2 me

Trust me, once you get an exhaust hooked up on your mitsu , your ricer friend will be bragging about the sound of your ride...Go get an Apexi N1...then go spank your friend!

get the megan racing downpipe and megan racing catback with the apex n1 style tip. my friend has it on his gst and surprisingly its the nicest sounding exhaust ive ever heard...it destroys any other exhaust ive heard and ive heard a million. the whole thing was like 470 shipped to my door and its a true 3" system unlike the expensive apexi ones and it sounds sooooooooo much better then anything ive heard

Every exhaust I've heard for DSM's sounds about the same. My friend had a thermal on his GST and I have the full ATR on my GSX. My buddy had an N1 on his 1G. They sounded basically the same, some louder than others but fairly similar. As far as sound I think DSM's sound like dumptrucks anyway, it's kind of a cool sound to hear from a small car.

yeah i got it about a month ago. i havent been driving it for about a week b/c my stock t25 was shot so i bought a big 16G off ebay... should be here within the next couple days

An eclipse will never sound like a civic. A civic with a turbo still sounds like a civic but with a turbo. 2.0 is not equal to 1.6. Trsut me dsm's sound sway better but you can't compare apples to oranges.

I have the Megan racing downpipe and exhaust and It is amazing. Its 3" mandrel bent,its all stainless steel, and it sounds great. The price was right also

I have the EVO2.... its stainless so it shouldn't rust.......

I LOVE the exhaust by the way. Though I probably had a clogged cat, the second I stepped in the car it performed a MILLION times better. Not just better spoolup or anything, it drove like it just rolled off the assembaly line.

I really dont believe that one muffler is better than another one at this point. The only thing that you should consider is #1 price #2 diameter. Dont look too hard into it. Im running tanabe racing medalion and if I had it to do over, I would have gotten the exhaust package that dsmparts has with the Apex dp, and catback exhaust, just cuz its cheap.

If you go custom, you should also take note of the wall thickness.
The thinner the wall is the more the chance of a raspy exhaust note.
Anyway, I run a full N1 on my 97 fwd. I love it. It's not too loud, nice
and deep, and you can hear the turbo spool through it. Best sounding
exhaust I've ever had. However, my buddy has the ATR 3" on his 1g
fwd. At first, I thought it was ridiculously loud and obnoxious. But after
a while it's really growing on me. It sounds like a hard-core turbo exhaust
if there is such a thing It's great for power too.

I got my exhaust imported from japan. Its a thermal Hamaye Non cat straight pipe exhaust. I had a buddy over there on a buisness trip and he said he would send me over one.

Anyways. it sounds good and no rust. Just make sure you get a thermal exhaust. Also, if you plan on running high boost...make sure its 3'' including the downpipe.
