Is this a good price for an exhaust?

$380 for a custom 3" mandrel bent catback exhaust w/ no muffler? Is that a good price? I was thinking a N1 style muffler from ebay. Some $25 one or something.

It's Aluminized, and the price is including installation. It's from a great group a guys down here that run a local shop. They are also members of this forum. I've just been trying to decide on one for my car and I don't know about prices and such and that is what they are currently asking for one.

I would get a system for around that much in a 2.5" variety with a SS muffler & tip.

Look here.

And if you want to go the "build it yourself" route. You can buy pipes at the same website and find some nice SS bandclamps to connect it all. There is a writeup somewhere, I can't find it now, on how much and what size piping to get.

for an aluminized 3" catback with no muffler, that is really not that great of a price. Free installation is cool, but installing an exhaust isn't a tough job. If you can change your oil, you can install an exhaust. you could get a 3" aluminized catback WITH muffler for less than that from RnR.

Well I just checked out RNR and it is $445 for the 3" exhaust not including shipping and however long it takes to get here. It does come with a muffler though. I don't know, I haven't decided yet.

I would like to give these guys my business because they are great, but then I'd have to get a muffler as well. The SS I'm not to worried about it since I doubt it'd be rusting anytime soon. I doubt I'll have the car for 10 years as well. Does the Alum. rust that easy?

Also installing it myself would be kind of fun but it can be a bi*** when the damn bolts don't come off, LOL. Maybe I can work out a deal w/ them or somethin.

I'm kind of tight on money as well. I don't really wanna be shelling out all this money, but I would like an upgrade.

ok my bad, you are fwd. So 335 + 30 for 3". that is 365 for an aluminized catback with a muffler. You said you were getting an aluminuzed one from these other guys, not SS, so you can't add in the extra for SS and compare it. It's comparing apples and oranges. Hey you asked, I shared info. Get your mufflerless aluminzed catback for 380 then man, doesn't hurt me none. I'm just tellin you its cheaper from somewhere else and it comes with a muffler. You know how much you're gunna spend on a muffler and welding to get one on that mufflerless catback? After all that's done, you're gunna have spent maybe 500 bux, and for that much you coulda gotten a SS one from RnR, or heck, even an aluminized turbo back for slightly more from them.

woah chill out, I added thed the SS price becuase yall said to go with it. RNR is the orignal exhaust I was thinking about getting but don't people say it takes a month or 2 to even get it?

Who told you to get SS? Yes SS should last longer, but you'll be fine with aluminized. If you want to know how long it'll take to get, just write him and ask him. As of lately he has been getting orders out faster than he used to. Writing him and asking him would be the easiest way to figure out the amount of time it'll take if that's what you're concerned about.

Okay well I just checked out RNR again and after shipping it brings it to $404. So $24 more than the local guys but it includes a muffler. Now is this a good exhaust or just an okay one. They are basically the same as long as they are all mandrel bent and such correct? What I'm thinking is maybe I can ask if they can lower the price for me and I'll install it myself then just pick up a muffler. Does that sound about right? Which would you go with

if you can get em maybe to match RnR's price then go with that. Otherwise RnR stuff is good stuff. Ran his stuff on my gst, buddies run his stuff on their dsms/evos. The evo that currently holds the fastest 1/4 mile time is built by RnR. But yes, pretty much most of the mandrel bent exhausts will perform pretty close to the same. It's just piping. So if you can get the local guy to match RnR's price and put a muffler on there, then go for it, otherwise I'd just get RnR's. Also i think its DSMotorsport.com that sells decent priced exhausts too. Just look around man
