Alright im buying a rebuilt head from dsmgraveyard. Im putting it on a block with 165,000 miles on it. So should i get no porting done to it. Also what else do i need to replace this head. could you make me a list please. I have

head gasket( should i get a head gasket set?)
valve cover gasket set
oil
oil filter
wires
spark plugs
What else?

Trying to keep low budget. This is just for temporary. Im going to use the old head bolts.

Also if anyone knows were i can get some really cheap cams to put in this head let me know. Link would be nice. Im just trying to get this head to run good on the old block so if you think performance cams will work then just let me know what you have or were i can get some. Looking to spend under 300 on cams if possible. Ive been looking and they are all over that. thanks guys for the help.

If you get a headgasket set then it should come with all the gaskets from the headgasket up.

You need a timing belt.

And might as well do a full tune-up on the thing while you're at it.

I just put a new timing belt on 4 months ago

OH, well in that case make sure you mark which way it is on there and make sure it goes back on that way.

I would asume it has new lifters, but if you want to replace them go with 3g lifters. I would personaly go with a nice head gasket expesially if you are going performance. Any standard gasket kit for the rest will do just fine. As for the timming, did you replace the pullys too? how about the hydralic tensioner? I wouldn't reuse any of it enless you replaced it when you did the belt. Why your at it I would check your starter and prabably replace your water pump if it hasnt been replaced in awhile.

Do not reuse your head bolts. They are one time use torque to yield bolts.

I was just going to replace lifters then i decided to replace head. And the head does not come with lifters. i just found that out.

No the Head doesn't not come with lifters. And DO NOT reuse the Bolts as they will fail.

I would get a good set of aftermarket headstuds. that way if you decide to remove the head later down the road, you don't have to re-buy oem bolts. Because, correct me if I'm wrong guys, you can torque, and re-torque a good aftermarket headstud. plus, your chances of blowing a headgasket down the road is going to be slim
