What does this sensor do and where does it connect

What does this sensor do and where does it go, the wiring and all that good stuff is missing? Its the white one on the lower part of the radiator, seems like something is missing.

Its your coolant temp sensor for fans i believe. Off hand without looking anything up I think thats what I replaced on my friends 1g when it would over heat and not turn fans on. I cant remember where the wire comes from tho. Could be from one of the harness groups that are attached to the fans near the coolant overflow bottle.

It is the fan temp switch. When the coolant gets hot eniugh it turns on your fans. It should spider into the fan wiring for that side of the car.
