What does the tcu looks like ?

I need to know what the tcu looks like ..is it a little gold box with only one connector?and my ECU wont communicate with a tester so what does that mean .. the car starts runs perfect but I only have reverse and 2nd gear ..it is a j-spec trans imported to houston and been running excellent until yesterday .It happened all of a sudden .the trans is only 6 months old since I got it . I personally went to houston and looked at it before they cleaned it and the fluid was perfect and there was no shaving in the pan or in the filter .I brought it to a transmission place and they drove it and said its not the trans itself it might be a fuse or the computer . I really need help fast because I was supposed to be at work tuesday

I found it hidden under the carpet but how can you tell if it is burnt I am getting mine rebuilt right now and when I get it back what if that aint the problem what next
