I have a TCU that a friend was using for 2 months, he gave me back to me and about a month later I had a local socket the TCU for me, i went to try it about a week later and the trans is in limp mode.
I tried it in a friends car that has switches hooked up to shift and no luck, tried it with stock chip and no luck, plugged his ecu back in and worked fine, even plugged in a TCU he had chipped and burned and it worked.

I came home and tried the TCU in my car and same thing, limp mode, also I tried to pull the TCU codes and it doesn't give any.

SO, can anyone help? I haven't pulled out my TCU to see if it is a EPROM yet, but I am hoping it is because this thing needs some line pressure bad.

TIA
Aaron

Its funny you should ask! I've been trying to do this for the last week plus. I haven't found a scan tool to do the trick yet. My shop has the Genesis, the snap-on solars, and the Chrysler DRB 3. All will talk to the engine controller, but not the trans controller.

I do have a second gen BTW. I would venture to guess the DRB 3 would talk to your tcu. I believe it has an option for early mma vehicles. A Chrysler dealer should have one.

Ill search around also... I think there is a way to jumper two pins somewhere and read the code. Not sure about this though

So it doesn't give any codes, as in the needle doesn't pulse or it is pulsing like it is supposed to? Sorry I didn't understand your problem.

Okay, after re-reading your post, how much do you trust this local that put the socket in your your trans controller? It almost sounds like this guy effed up and ruined your tcu... I could be wrong, but if your friend couldn't use this tcu, and his worked right, (as long as that's all he changed) then all signs point to your tcu.
