I was looking at those free mods and most of the links for them dont work anymore so if anyone has done them then help me out a little. First the 4 vac lines on the tb do i have cap off both sides or just the tb and get rid of the lines. Secondly with the egr block off plate i did not want to do that because i think it will set off the check engine light if so how do i get around this because I would like my light to still work just in case something happens. Finally, with the valve cover breather do i cap off where the line went to, and would it be alright for the autozone valve cover breather i see all the time..I'm not really an autozone guy but i think since its just a filter it should be alright, right? Thanx for everything.......

These are the only free mods you need to do:

1. Pull off the air can and remove the mass airflow sensor (MAS) behind the MAS is a paper silencer. Remove that silencer.

2. Remove the restrictor in the boost control solenoid (BCS). Read this to find out how to do it.

All other 'free' mods are not necessary. If you have emissions testing, just leave the EGR alone. 1G's won't throw a check engine light (unless your car was built under California emissions standards) if the EGR is blocked off, but you may still fail the sniffer test without it. Some tuners have also experienced increased fuel consumption.

For the line between the valve cover and intake pipe, I recommend going to autozone and picking up one of those purolator fuel filters and just sticking that in line. With the valve cover breather filter, all that will do is get clogged with oil and eventually start spitting oil around the engine bay. Not enough to cause problems, but enough to make it look nasty in there.

Best free mods are maintenance. Change your timing belt (especially if you're not sure that it's been done at the 60K interval), PCV valve, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fresh coolant, new fuel filter, etc. Bring it back from it's 14 year condition to something like new and it'll feel a lot fresher.

whats the pcv valve and where is it located and if i was to replace it how much and everything else was freshly changed prior to me buying it other than the fuel filter, how hard is that to change. Also would that have anything to do with why my car smells horribly like gas inside the car or what and i mean it will give you a headache after 20 mins of driving

Ebay is fine as long as you are carfull. Stupid people and their money are parted easily as the saying goes. Just make sure you buy from reputable sellers, and ask as many questions as you have too beofore you send any money.

PCV valve is located on your valve cover, pointing towards intake manifold, with rubber hose going from the the valve to the manifold. I believe it's around $7 from most autoparts stores.

Fuel filter can be a pain to change, because fittings tend to freeze to the filter. If you do it, only flare-wrench must be used to loosen lower fitting. Regulat open-end will strip it.

As fot the gas smell, remove your trunk liner, find fuel pump cover (it's black, on the driver's side of the trunk floor, with wires going to it) Remove it, and see if fuel tank is wet around the fuel pump assembly. If it is, chances are the rubber seal ring between the tank and fuel pump assembly is crumbled or torn. It could also be fuel line fittings. They're all visible from under the cover, so you should have no problem inspecting them. Other then that, make sure you lines on the filter aren't leaking (on the firewall, near the battery)

Good luck with the car bro.
As long as your ambitions don't get ahead of your knowledge, your car will give you years of enjoyment. :thumb:

EBAY is not all bad, there is still good sellers in this world. just excersize caution, if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
