Waterloo,
I recently r&r my exhaust manifold because two studs were broken when I bought the car. Upon removal I noticed some thick white scaly deposits on the exhaust gas "deflector plate". What would these be from? Bad gas, running rich?

The turbo was really clean inside the exhaust side. But it too was whitish especially the turbine blades. But there was no deposits inside the turbo. There was to my dismay a huge crack in the exhaust housing. From my photos does it look like the waste gate is closing all the way? It looks to me like it isn't.

The car does not build 10 psi till well after 4000rpm which is were I have my MBC set. I don't want to raise the boost on a car that isn't 100%yet.

That small crack in my exhaust manifold doesn't look like it is leaking anything. I would prefer not to replace it and save my money for 2g awd drive car.

I am mostly concerned about that weird white stuff in my manifold.

So I take it your car is a 1G?

If so that crack is just going to get worse. Do yourself a favor and purchase a nice evo/ported manifold and when you get your 2G you can replace the 2g one with the Evo and sell the 2G for a small cash return. :thumb:

If you port the 2G and leave the EVO alone it is almost the same size. But as soon as you port the evo it is larger.

The crack the the turbo exhaust housing is normal. I would replace that cracked manifold with a EVO 3 manifold that are less likely to crack because they have more nickle content. dont get a 2g they crack just as well as the 1gs do. Your turbo may be on its way out if you are not getting full boost until 4k so also look into a EVO or a 16g

I replaced my Mani with an Evo mani. My Turbo has the same crack line as yours. I just ported mines and the crack is now shiny and smaller. Replace the mani with an EVO manifold, run the car for a few more thousand miles, save some money, then buy your 2g and swap the manifolds.
