so my cars heat barely works i have to leave it on full blast to get any heat LOL. i usually drive all city but yesterday i did a few pulls on the hwy and the hear was blareing out like it normally should.i get back in the city to normal driving and nothing again. people have told me i might need a water pump but i dont know all i know is the car sat for a year pretty much untouched.thanks guys

Please describe in more detail what the problem is.
Is the blower motor working fine on all speeds?
What is the water temp gauge showing?
Do you get heat if the car is stopped?

Depending on your answered there are different things to look at. It could be as simple as your thermostat has failed open.

When you turn the blower up all of the way, is the amount of air coming out of the vent increasing? If not I would guess blower motor. If it is increasing, I would guess thermostat.

i put my hand to it with the knob on full blast and its actually pushing a crap load of air out

So you talking about the air pressure from blower motor.

There are three things that usually go wrong with the blower, fuses, speed resistor, and the motor. I wouldn't be surprised if your blower motor is original and reaching it's end of life. The brushes in the motor wear out over time. I had to replace my blower 3 years ago because of it. Actually I took it apart and replaced the brushes but most wouldn't be able to do that and just replace the whole motor.

If your coolant temp gauge reads normal and you do get hot air when the motor is working then that's where I'd start.

He said he is getting a lot of air, wouldn't that mean the blower motor is working fine?

If your getting a lot of air but its just not very warm, look into the thermostat or even the heater core could be getting clogged.

What he said was "on full blast is the same as on 1 but at higher rpms it blows hard".

Which is why I asked what I did. It's also possible that there is a problem with the voltage in the car. You'll note each of my questions is intended to validate a path for diagnosis. If I don't get clear answers it's hard to follow any debugging tree.

If the resistor is damaged it usually fails so that the blower doesn't work except on high which is when a relay bypasses the resistor.

True I must be getting a different conclusion from his vague explanation.

This is confusing. OP, if you are sitting at idle and your turn the knob up from low to high to you get a difference in air pressure?

Do you get more air while sitting still with the engine revved to about 2500rpms? If so its possible the blower is going bad and taking more voltage to operate. This would explain the difference in airflow between idle and highway speeds.

Okay, if the air is only coming out at highway speeds, maybe your blower motor is completely dead and the air you are feeling is just the highway air coming thru the vent below the windshield into the cars interior vents. Next time when you are on the highway turn the knob that has only 2 positions. Turn it to the position that looks more like a loop, make sure it is not turned to the symbol that shows air flow coming from the hood thru the car. If you stop getting air out of your vents when turned to this position and with your blower on the highest level, your blower motor is completely dead
