What car should I buy?

-Power options (pw, pl, ps, good a/c)
-Comfortable
-Reliable
-Under 2500ish Dollars
-Under 140,000 miles

Would like it to also be:
Good on gas
Cheap on insurance
Sun/Moon roof
Hatchback/Sedan
Only minor rust/dents
Glossy paint
Easy to get parts/repair

Neons are not fast and look horrid, you are a guy not a 17yo HS girl: Dont sport that thing. Sounds like you cut half your list down yourself too by bashing the Merkur, Rex and S10. DSM will be the obvious choice on this board but reliable they are not, nothing really is though.



My vote and take it for what its worth:

Get a 1989-1991 RX7 Coupe N/A. They can be had in good condition for 2K and will mild mods they are highly underrated. Handlind is great in a 50/50 RWD sports coupe. Add racingbeat headers, testpipe, exhuast and pineapple racing sleeves and you are running 15flat and having a blast doing it, reving to 9K and spent 3K total.

or the turbo II. i love rx-7's. those things rev high, look good, do burnouts, weight little(so you see good gains), and the weight distribution is very good on them so they rock in autocrossing.

LoL:laugh: im sorry but i love this "-Fast (16.5 or lower)" if you get the 1G DSM AWD you can run low 15's stock. put $1500 you can run low 14's easily.

If it was me i would either get a 1G DSM or a S13 (S14 are ugly) and swap a SR20DET "red top" in it. If i wanted another modded car it would get another turbo car even if i had to swap in it

I don't think its wise to post a poll of which car to get on a DSM website, obviously people are going to favor the Talon.

I favor the Talon OR the 240SX..you can do quite a bit of stuff to 240s and they look nice. Its really what you want.

not sure if any one said this or not, but I noticed you have a j-body on there. I owned a 89 Z24, 5spd and they aren't very fast, but they have that deep thoughty rumble to them, which is oh so nice. Also they didn't put the 3.1 in until the early 90's, it had the 2.8 v6 until 89 or 90. THERE IS ALSO A 91 GTP that had a turbo w/ about 205hp. they are rare and pretty pricey or so I hear, but I have seen a few and they are pretty sharp.

Why not get a 91 metro? When you get all 3 cylinders going and the wind is on your back...!!!!!!! WHOA!!!! can you say beast.

Go with the 3.1 turbo or just do the right thing and get a race car, give in to the urges and desire go TSI

no such thing a GTP J-body, but the 3.1L v6 in the j-body's are fun cars to drive around the city. The ncie v6 feel.

Though, pretty much the main mod to do the z24's and sunbird GTs are to swap in the Grand Prix GTP engines, you know, the nice 240 hp supercharged v6's?? Either that or the 200hp 3.4 engines.

Rx7's can be fast little cars, I really like 240sx's aswell, you can make those look really nice and are great sport cars aswell, rwd, like 49/51 and with a redtop, hmmm. =)

I'm a fan of turbo cars, but also am partial to fast pickup's...good examle is a 4x2 S10 4.3 5spd...loads of torque for a small truck, and 350 swaps are very easy, the 4.3 is basically a 5.7 with 2 cylinders chopped off....only problem with a powerful small truck is traction, ask the fwd dsm'ers how a lack of traction can be very frustrating

I owned a 350ci GTA that was midly modded and it hooked up very well due to suspension mods. Sure it was fun to drive but i would never trade it for my AWD Turbo. I also owned a fast FWD turbo DSM and it was very frustrating. 1st and 2nd gear were useless unless you were very easy on the gas.
