what can the n/t pistons handle???

i researched around about n/t internals because i bought a n/t 6 bolt for my rebuild, i believe (dont quote me) they are said to hold 9 psi. but with some draw backs. i just bought some forged wiseco's from modern automotive preformance for a good *** deal.:thumb: and i read that if you have forged pistons you dont need the oil squiters, and can boost plenty.

just do alot of reading before you do anything

You don't "need" them. Some say you do, others say the risk of them breaking off and landing into a spinning crank is not worth it. All the oil squirters do is cool the piston.

There is NEVER a set boost you can run on ANY car without breaking. On the n/t pistons the only thing that is said over and over again, is that your supposed to almost tune for NO knock. So just turn up the boost until you see knock(which is what really breaks stuff). That boost level can be 5, 15 or 3psi, you never know, dont just run a boost level because you heard or just because everyone does it. All cars are different.

+1! I was kinda of confused about how much "boost" it can handle. Boost is relative. There are too many variables that go along with boost as in air flow (lbs/min), timing, air fuel ect...

The problem is the aggressive 1g timing map. Those cars were set up to run 7.8:1 compression. When you run 9:1 you'll get knock quick. If you can get a eprom chip, or better yet an ostrich you can run plenty of boost. But with stock timing and any boost it won't last long.

I've ran 20psi on 110 octane and I run 10psi on 93 octane everyday, thats with the stock timing, never even had a hint of knock. Cars pulls MUCH harder than a car with turbo pistons on the same boost level if the mods are similar.
